Game Thread Spurs (8-2) vs Warriors (6-6) (Wed 11/12/25) [7:00PM CDT]

Lol...Well, it didn't take long for this place to turn into SpursTalk.

36-12. That's the story of the game right there.

Golden State shot zero free throws in the first quarter. Zero. The Spurs shot 2. Wemby and Castle had zero fouls in the first quarter. Castle got 3 fouls in less than 5 minutes of play in the second.

GSW shot 36 in Q2, Q3, Q4. The Spurs shot 10.

Curry gets 22 points in the 3rd quarter and shoots 9 free throws.

Spurs jumped out to a big lead. Then, the officials got involved and made it impossible for them to play their game. By the end of the 3rd quarter, they've put the Spurs in a hole they can't climb out of. That's all you need to know.

Everything else is bullshit.
It's actually a problem that players can just headbutt Wemby and flop & get an offensive foul call. Absolutely egregious.

It should be noted that this has been a problem all season, if Mitch & the front office haven't brought this up to the officials or league office yet, they need to be fired.

I've never seen Curry get a whistle like that, anyone who watched the Rockets series last april, man, what a different game.

Any other player who turns the way Wemby does has an elbow in hte ribs of someone and a foul is called 1/20 of the time if that.

But because of the height that same movement is up high and this league is so fucking Charmin soft that it fucks Victor in many ways.

Something needs to be done at some point about this.

The annoying thing is that there's not really anything Wemby specifically can do about it. That foul was in fact a reach in by Draymond and he got contacted because he timed it wrong (Which is a fucking reach in foul! Fucking scott foster!)
Wemby needs to start railing on the refs in games like all the big stars do, because right now they treat him like a damn g-leaguer.

The better team lost tonight. It happens. Anyone panicking obviously doesn't remember the dynasty years.
The only thing I'm panicking about is Fox, that may have been the worst single game performance of a player I've seen since Quindarry Weatherspoon fouled out in less than 2 minutes of garbage time

I’m trying not to be so reactionary every game. Sure, there’s things our guys still need to work on but the tune after the Chicago win vs the tune after this loss now is fucking hilarious. Like we’re only in game 11 out of 82. There’s no need to draw such dramatic conclusions yet.

Things never change when Scott Foster shows up. Always a clown show with him in attendance.

This team is fucking stacked man. I think we will win 60 this year barring any major injuries. This felt like one loss out of 22 for an elite team. I'm stoked.
Once Harper gets back, oh man. This team is gonna be legit for a long time. Let's hope we luck into some good wing talent, because that's really our only deficit.

I am so beyond tired of players like Fox watching the ball when their man doesn't have the ball on defense. That's why our perimeter defense is so horrific, our guys get lost ball watching constantly.
Pretty sure I posted something about it being by design, possibly. Expecting teams to eventually regress with their shooting. But that was when Wemby was basically the entire defense. Now that Kornet and Olynyk are healthy Mitch needs to change that shit real fucking fast.

I fucking hate ticky tack fouls too. I don't care if it's 80's Jordan, foul hard enough to make them think twice about trying to drive into the paint.

Everything was fine until Castle got into foul trouble. They started getting lazy and once the Warriors got back into the game it was over. Shouldn't be losing to what I would consider old scrubs at this point. Fox was useless out there. He definitely killed the chemistry. The fact that Fox and Castle struggle from the 3 point line has shown it's face today. Harper is the guy, but he won't be taking the reins for another year or so. It's just one bad game, but pretty disappointed they just let Golden State start believing in themselves and steal the game. Definitely gonna have to figure out how to work these chess pieces knowing you have 3 scorers but none of them are shooters that being Fox, Castle, and Harper. Fox being the weakest link as the other two know how to distribute the rock.
Its early but looks like Fox not a fit. He doesnt even pick and roll with wemby -something everyone said he would do when we traded for him. He needs to be the 6th man ogg the bench now and then trade him for a star wing who can shoot lights out when Harper comes back. Dude also turning ball over at bad clip. Totally lost with this lineup.

In Fox defense, nobody runs P&Rs with Wemby, he sets HORRIBLE screens and gets bumped out of position too easily inside.

OKC gonna 5peat tbh. They have upcoming draft picks from LAC and DAL, both unprotected I think :st-lol:
Dude they have four picks from this upcoming 26 draft that might be the best in a decade. Including the clippers pick unprotected who seem to be crashing and burning. They also have a decent chance of getting the jazz pick. Also the 76ers pick isn’t great et the moment but that’s a team that could collapse at any moment. Seriously old has room for maybe one rookie at best and they may have two lottery picks in maybe one of the best drafts in history lmao.

I been on this rant since game one about how bad the defense is guys watching the ball and not watching ball plus man, guys not getting into help position it is terrible. The team is a terrible defensive team they are a shit show covered up by Wemby. That is bad coaching that has allowed it to continue.

Now that we have Kornet and Oly back, I think the defensive strategy will be no 3s and force them to drive to the middle.

I think the double big has never worked against the warriors in the last 10 years. Sochan should have played more. He looked good. Not sure what we are doing with Fox play calling. He is just standing out there while castle runs the show. You can't leave Butler like this over and over. He is a scorer and he takes what is given to him. Finally, we need to look closely why we are not defending that corner 3.

plenty of mistakes in this game. If you want players to be physical with Steph Curry they will get in foul trouble. That means you need put different defenders on him and by that I don't mean Champagnie. Once Castle was in foul trouble Sochan should've been played to guard him. Also if guards torture you, it's better to play Sochan than Kornet. Luke got 0 boards. Parking Fox in the corner makes no sense. Mitch has to run plays for him. Then there's the whole "we up by 16 let's play heroball" thing that we've been seeing so often. Really bad coaching to be honest, paired with bad referees and sloppy play.

Yeah OKC has the best chance to at least 3peat and more. Those lottery picks in a very deep draft will allow them to stay within the apron. With good management, they can replicate Spurs 20 years+ of excellency.

Just finished watching the game. Very disappointed with the loss. Steph and Victor compeled hard, but it wasn't enough.

One big difference between OKC and the Spurs (when looking at young teams), is that the Spurs are loaded with poor defenders and to a lesser extent average shooters. Without Victor and Steph on the floor, Spurs get abused on defense. Luke is good too, but he can't really guard on the perimeter. Dylan has also shown the makings of a good defense player, so the Spurs missed him too. I think Dylan would have provided some resistance on the defensive end if he were playing. They're really going to have to look at breaking up this friendship crew at some point.

we can endure bad games from Fox. I don’t like it but it’s ok. We have other guys, especially when Harper is back. winnable game, even with Fox just taking a stroll. That’s a good sign. Next time there will be fewer fouls and TOs and we win.

Crazy that the Warriors only had 8 OR, felt like twice as many. Well, if you keep turning the ball over left and right and give up tons of good looks from three, it's tough to win against a good veteran team that's not fucking around (unlike the Spurs were once they got the lead).

I'm worried long term about Fox, this hasn't changed since he signed his extension. It's a insane deal smh

I'm not worried short term tho and don't even think yesterday's loss was on him mostly but our collective low IQ especially in the 3rd Qt and mitch's inability to deal with a dble digit lead.

I mean, one or twice ok, but how many times have we lost a dble digit lead? Feels almost every game...

Mitch’s post game press conference.

@OK Computer - just going with your theory, what do you make of Mitch’s comments about Fox? Is that him trying to keep it out of the media and address it directly with De’Aaron? Or are they just going to baby him the way the refs do with Draymond?

Also, pretty sharp answer to Tynan’s Sochan question. It’s clear this dude is way out of the rotation and favor. I bet he’s on the block.
Yeah, I mean, there’s no benefit in letting the media know. They’re going to keep that shit in-house. Like I said, I think they’re going to handle this with class and patience like they always do.

I just woke up this morning and I’m still frustrated about how Fox kept passing it to Keldon to create something rather than create something for Keldon. He’d also pass it early to Wemby… it’s as if he’s trying to prove something. What the hell was that?

Meh. Frustrating game but was very winnable. The FT disparity was insane. Hard to win playing 5 on 8. But constantly leaving dudes wide open from three makes things rather difficult. Coaching staff really needs to clean that shit up

Also, Castle and Wemby both had triple doubles. Despite the loss that's pretty neat
