Game Thread Spurs (13-6) vs Grizzlies (9-12) (Tue 12/2/25) [7:00PM CDT]

With the stopover in Austin and then the AS break, it’s really not been the RRT of the Tim, Tony, and Manu era. This is it—we’re in the new Road Warriors, building the team portion of the season right now. I’ll repost the graphics here. It’s way more demanding than the toughest stretches of the old RRT, in my opinion.Oh yeah, if we beat LA, that means the road trip extends with a Las Vegas tour right in the middle of it.

We're not yet halfway through.

This Years RRT.

A .500 record during this stretch would be ideal, especially with four winnable games lined up. Taking down LA in the Eliminator is crucial, pushing the total to five wins. After that, there are at least eight road games ahead, not including possible Emirates Cup action. The Spurs could end up topping .500 depending on how the Emirates Cup goes.

20 games in and we're a .700 team.

Who would have thought?

I don’t think even the most optimistic commentators expected this team to be this far ahead of schedule. This is Mitch putting his stamp of Spurs culture and corporate knowledge on the franchise. This extended road trip, the Emirates Cup Road Trip—whatever you want to call it—is going to be historic when we look back in a few years. We know who the co-architect of this new Spurs Way is, and it’s Barns, in whatever small way. I love this guy. To think that some former self-anointed “Mayors of Sports” in Bexar County wanted him gone at the start of this season is wild.

I love this guy’s enthusiasm

He's on our FO staff IIRC

edit: Sorry you mean George Hill I thought you meant Gorgui Dieng
Lol no worries. We called him Georgie on ST. I don't think anyone else in the world ever did.

HB - can we give him a 6??

Fox’s defense is so frustrating to watch. He loves sagging off the 3pt line but does nothing in that help spot, and then doesn’t sprint back to close out his man. It’s not crazy to expect average effort on D from your max player.

Lukey Pooky is really heating up on D lately. What a fantastic game from him against big bad Edey who dropped 37 last game.

Dylan is the truth. Big buckets and defense from him. I’m so excited about this guy. Reminder, he’s 19! Sean said postgame that Timmy texted him “Dylan Harper is a stud.”

KJ a meek statline but he delivered big buckets, defense, and hustle in the 4th.

On that note, glad Mitch closed the game with KJ instead of icy Vassell. Good timeouts throughout the game, and the team looked noticeably better on O and D after timeouts.

Vassell bad shooting night but glad he’s at least trying hard on D. It is garnering him a lot of fouls, but I prefer this version of Vassell’s defense vs previous years.

Julian was so lethargic on D in the first half. Was going to give him a 2, but his clutch D and rebounding in the 4th bumped him to a 3.

Bryant is growing at warp speed. Beginning of this season he was a flaming pile of garbage, and now 20 games in he’s putting in valuable minutes for us. Silver lining of these injuries is it’s giving him real NBA minutes vs G league.

A good game from Sochan! Glad to see him with some confidence tonight. But still, Jeremy - take the open shot.

Random observation - go watch during last Grizzlies timeout Castle and Harper interact with each other. They look like brothers lol. Talking, laughing, body language, etc. Very fun to see considering these two will be in a Spurs uniform for a long time to come.

Ugly game but came up big when down 7 with 7 min left.

Mitch needs to realize when Vassell is having a bad shooting night through 3 quarters. Then don't run plays for him to shoot jumpers in the 4th. Luckily he stopped that after the first 5 minutes of the 4th.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Waters and DJG get some run manana. Kornet put a ridiculous amount of effort plus got hammered all night so minutes might be down some. Fox will play 30ish min if game is close. Even with Victor and Castle out we’re still fairly deep except center. Thinking Sohan will be getting more minures due to Wagner and Carter Jr.

Kornet and 🦊 were huge in the last 6 min…
Perfect pairing tbh. A screen setting rim running big who is fine doing that over and over. After he scores 3 or 4 times in the pain teams keep a body on him and Fox is just able to do what he wants around the rim. Funny the spurs got that right the first time and the kings couldn't get him a rim running big his entire career.

Probably Kelly too. 2.5 min tonight.

And we should have at least 3 more wins. Should have beat the lakers and the warriors twice
At least two wins imo…..although I was at that first Golden State game and the refs did not provide KY. 😂 The second game I still do not know how Victor did not get an and One on that dunk on Draymond. definitely should’ve had a split with them at a minimum.

This road trip loom’s large. I’m sure somebody will start a thread and it will be fun to guess the W – L. There’s some pretty good teams on the agenda…….

that was frustrating to watch

all the foul calls, felt like Grizzlies made every shot and when they missed they got an offensive rebound

glad they pulled it out tho, a win is a win

Well, we also get the Wizards twice and the Pelicans once.

Anyone notice that when Spencer hit that dagger 3 to put Spurs down 7 in the 4Q....Harper sub in and make the corner 3 and driving layup and changed the game momentum to our side again. KJ and Fox get hot and put the game away thereafter.

Again....Harper making things happen in the 4th Q.
