Game Thread Spurs (5-2) vs Rockets (6-2) (Fri 11/07/25) [6:30PM CDT] on Prime Video

Barnes has had plenty of games like that tbh; Champ has one or two as well. A lot of their looks were wide open too.
Yeah but both going off like that in the same game? That's what I meant by flukey

GS is so bad without Curry. Don’t see them contending with him.

Denver is going to be a force, tho. How the hell did they get Cam Johnson and Valanciunas??

6-2 with no Fox, Kornet missing 6 games, Harper out for 2+, & with Vic playing like donkey dicks for 2 1/2 games! Hell, imagine the team with a true point and healthy. Plus cleaning up the turnovers and figuring out how to get Wemby going again. Not to mention 🏰 will be even more effective when not running the point full-time. Oh yeah, we’ll get Harper back hopefully at the end of November or December. This team hasn’t even scratched the surface of their potential and there will be bumps and bruises along the way, but the future is super bright. Possibly this season…..

Much better 2nd half from Wemby. At least he's learning and the passes out of the double teams are quicker and more decisive. The team is learning to move and swing the ball too. Everything looks smooth when the Spurs are hot from 3. It is feast or famine with Barnes, Vassell, and Champaigne.

The way the refs let Sengun play is unbelievable. Constantly throwing elbows on offense and flailing on defense.

Yeah, Sheppard was taking advantage of defenders like Lindy and McLaughlin. Castle stoned him. He isn’t an 8 man playoff rotation guy for a contender.
Played him off the floor. Udoka pulled him right away when that happened.

Fox back tomorrow, hopefully that gives them a general boost on a back to back. Very exciting.

Guys, I’m at the Lonestar Rally in Galveston. Missed the game and can’t read 44 pages. Looked like a solid win. Honestly thought they’d lose considering how good the rockets look offensively. Can someone give me a run down of who performed well etc.

should have been 7-1 to start the season; but can't complain. This was their signature win against a really good team without having to play our best
I think this matchup ended up favorable to the Spurs because, like the Mavs, the Rockets don't have a point guard. So Castle was able to take advantage of not being pressured up top by a legit NBA PG.

Really excited to see Castle's ability at his natural SF position with Fox on the court to set it up. Props to Castle for being up to the task of mostly holding it down without Fox for a 6-2 start.

Story of the game...

When both Barnes and Champ shoot like this the Spurs are difficult to beat by anyone. Wemby inside just gives a defensive presence that is hard to keep up with if the Spurs are hitting.

It’s not an accident or a fluke. They’re getting practice shooting in the gym looks playing 4 on 3 off of the Wemby doubles.
Most of them didn't even come off the doubles, most came from second chance points. Yes they were open but that's after the defense collapsed trying to get the rebound. Keldon had a big hand in that. He was the only bench player with a +

They had no problem putting smalls on him in the low post in the first half. They tied their own hands by playing two bigs, forcing one to cover Vic. At that point, it doesn’t matter where he starts, just the he winds up high center, where it is most certainly NOT easy to double effectively without dropping your pants on the rest of the coverage.
I really don't know what game you were watching. They were getting away with smalls on him in the first quarter and a half because he kept camping at the three point line where he can't do shit if you put a small on him. That's when he was -16. As soon as he started setting up on the block on the Spurs possessions in the latter half of the second quarter the team went on a run and he got his plus minus to like -1 at the half.

Yeah what the hell? It was insane to watch. I legitimately try not to be a homer or complain about refs, but Sengun is absolutely miserable to watch. Why is he getting superstar whistles and ignored on the other side? He had at least 12 uncalled PF’s out there 😂

They figured out how to get Wemby going tonight: pull him off the damn three point line.

Nice win especially after giving the Lakers a fluke w. This team does look like it can grab a top 4 seed. I was really impressed by some of the extra efforts to grab some key rebounds and the timely 3 point shooting from Barnes and champ. This team also has a lot of depth and athletic ability. This team is gonna be a force to deal with.

vic’s defensive presence is soooo good.

Team has to understand that he was doing so much damage to opposing O in paint. Treat him like a Goat and feed him the ball. He is just 21. He will learn to play to his strengths.

Crowd should stop MVP chants, you are putting pressure.

Media should highlight other players as well.

Those 2 minutes he went out of game with foul trouble in 4th Qtr, they rallied back easily.

Gritty win. Much better 2nd half from Vic. Far from perfect but I'll take a dub against the Rockettes any day. Can't wait to see this team with 🦊 running the show

  1. Victor played like shit the first quarter and a half, Charmin soft setting up at the three point line and in the corner. Rockets were getting away with guarding him with Sheppard FFS. Most frustrating quarter and a half of Spurs basketball I have seen in a long time.
  2. Mitch must have gotten in Victor's ass because he spent the rest of the game setting up on the low block or the high post.
  3. Once Victor got on the block it opened up a ton of open threes plus easy second chance points off misses. Champ and Unc capitalized from distance and Keldon was a terror on the offensive glass.
  4. In the second half Victor would setup on the low block and then run to catch the pass a little past the FT line and started really scoring. They were forced to guard him with bigs since he went on the block and it opened up lots of midrange and driving opportunities for Victor on those high post catches.
Seemed like a very Duncan-esque performance from Victor in the final 2.5 quarters where the statline doesn't jump off the page but where everything was created by him. Very impressive game all in all even after that hideous first quarter and a half where his soft play completely destroyed the offense (Spurs would go on runs when Victor went to the bench).
