Game Thread Spurs (5-2) vs Rockets (6-2) (Fri 11/07/25) [6:30PM CDT] on Prime Video

should have been 7-1 to start the season; but can't complain. This was their signature win against a really good team without having to play our best

I just watched Cam Johnson air ball a 3, i feel less bad about the air balls we had earlier

Around the free throw circle is where Wemby should keep asking for the ball tbh. That spot is money for him.
I loved that he went to the low block repeatedly and then got the pass in the high post with good separation to either raise up, attack the rim, or wait for the double one pass away from shooters.

Mitch figuring things out in real time. Was really happy to see the adjustment of moving Wemby to be the fulcrum in the middle. I get wanting to have others take advantage of the space they were given but you can't put Wemby in the corner as a crazy decoy.

Im loving the fact that teams like miami…and now this rocket team was rated the highest scoring offense and spurs defense neutered them impressively…

We look like the Knicks of the West flying in for offensive rebounds

This is a 62 win team though, just did the math.

41-0 at home and 21-20 on the road by my calculations. Checkmate rest of the league.

This and stop using Sochan, who for all the good energy he brings disrupts the offensive game.

When Victor was taking those moronic threes early I thought he was going to revert to his old Charmin ways. Then Mitch must have lit into his ass like Pop would do in the old days and we saw this new and far improved version of Victor. Need this all the time, take that old 3 point chunking soft ass 7'6" player out back and shoot it.
The adjustment was setting him up high post, centered. It’s MUCH harder to double there, because you have to commit two players so far from the basket. Makes cuts and kickouts wide open.

I don't mind him shooting 3-4 threes a game, but when he hangs out at the three point line it drives me nuts. That's how you get away with guarding him with Reed Sheppard.

Vic was mostly setting up on the low block and then getting separation to receive the pass in the high post. If they set him up in the high post it would be a much easier double. That setup on the low block forces them to guard him with bigs who then have trouble dealing with his cuts to the high post to receive the ball and now Victor's got a lot of options with his defender off balance.

Gotta give Mitch credit, he clearly told Wemby to get the fuck off the three point line and start setting up near the block. Victor played a charmin-soft first quarter and a half but he was excellent the final 2.5 quarters. Statline won't show it but Victor had a Duncan like impact opening up shots and lanes for everyone else when those doubles came off the catch and he had a ton of hockey assists and plays drawing the defense in and leading to easy second chance opportunities. That last 2.5 quarters is exactly how I want Victor playing. It's winning basketball.
As soon as he plays like TDunc . Good things happen.. Castle is the TP or Manu

Did the Rockets pass on Castle?
Devastating.
Yeah, Sheppard was taking advantage of defenders like Lindy and McLaughlin. Castle stoned him. He isn’t an 8 man playoff rotation guy for a contender.
