Game Thread Spurs (5-2) vs Rockets (6-2) (Fri 11/07/25) [6:30PM CDT] on Prime Video

Yeah, Sheppard was taking advantage of defenders like Lindy and McLaughlin. Castle stoned him. He isn’t an 8 man playoff rotation guy for a contender.
Did he also remind you of Steve Nash?

As soon as he plays like TDunc . Good things happen.. Castle is the TP or Manu
No. He needs to move, and to establish position high center. Did you even watch the game? They were stripping him and going the other way when he was in the low post.

Moral of the story is when Victor plays like a center and sets up near the basket great things happen. When he tries to be KD it only works when he's guarded by bigs.
His best work was setting up above the jump circle, and being a hub.

Great win but that was some flukey ass shooting from Barnes and Champ.
Victor was getting them amazing shots. Can't expect them always hit the open shots which is why I wasn't promising a win if Victor went to the block but I knew him going to the block was going to make the offense start functioning again. Houston's a bitch though, god they have drafted so well outside of Sheppard.

This is a 62 win team though, just go the math.

41-0 at home and 21-20 on the road by my calculations. Checkmate rest of the league.

Huh? Victor was setting up on the left block continually in the second half. Though he received most of his passes just outside the FT line.

Vic was mostly setting up on the low block and then getting separation to receive the pass in the high post. If they set him up in the high post it would be a much easier double. That setup on the low block forces them to guard him with bigs who then have trouble dealing with his cuts to the high post to receive the ball and now Victor's got a lot of options with his defender off balance.
They had no problem putting smalls on him in the low post in the first half. They tied their own hands by playing two bigs, forcing one to cover Vic. At that point, it doesn’t matter where he starts, just the he winds up high center, where it is most certainly NOT easy to double effectively without dropping your pants on the rest of the coverage.

It doesn’t matter where he starts. Establishing position is where you receive the ball, not where you feint and go.

What was up with Sochan? Both times he grabbed his rebounds he went into this standing fetal position.

Barnes has had plenty of games like that tbh; Champ has one or two as well. A lot of their looks were wide open too.

Mitch figuring things out in real time. Was really happy to see the adjustment of moving Wemby to be the fulcrum in the middle. I get wanting to have others take advantage of the space they were given but you can't put Wemby in the corner as a crazy decoy.
feels to me like the bar is in hell tbh

Sheppard was helping to keep them in it towards the end imo. He isn't Castle but he no longer looks like a bust tbh.
