Game Thread Spurs (5-1) @ Lakers (6-2) (Wed 11/05/25) [9:00PM CDT] on ESPN

Never would I have thought I missed Blake Wesley so much watching this turd play basketball.
He came in turned the ball over twice in two minutes. He is absolutely garbage. The weak passes he turned the ball over on was comical. Almost like he had money in lakers. I did have money on lakers so literally thought he was on the take. lol.

For sure, but I put that more on his tired legs than his brain and it's not like it's every game, everybody sucked today on both teams (so did the refs).

He's reliable in a limited role but has to do too much vs much more physical players.

He's a savvy veterans that i'm sure can teach a lot of things to Harper and was maybe more important than Cp3 (who kinda slowed down the team) last season.
Sochan looks like he has taken next step. Need to start him at pf and bring Barnes off bench

I might surprisingly (as a Sochan skeptic) agree with this. HB’s defense has been bad, but his offensive knowledge of the game (and three point shooting ability) would be missed.

I think some of yall might be a little to high on Sochan this game. Yeah he did look decent on some things which was nice to see but he couldn't box out or rebound to save his life.

That's what killed any praise that I had for him on his return game.

I'm with those of you that are getting flashbacks of the Sochan PG experiment with Castle and I'm a big fan of Castle.

When healthy I think Harper and Fox need to be our 2 starting guards

My Ideal starting line up right now would be;
Pg. Fox
SG. Harper
SF. Castle
PF. Either Kornet for size or Sochan
C. Wemby

Not as rough as the Suns game but still a rough game last night. Everyone still looks shell shocked from the game before. Ugly basketball and Wemby, for all his talents, needs to assert himself more but I'm not sure if he can with that frame of his. He's the tallest dude out there so camp under the basket and grab lobs & dish out to 3 pt shooters!

Castle can play point, but he needs to quit being so nonchalant in half court sets. That, and he needs to remember that he is fast and strong enough to finish at the rim using speed and not always relying on that delayed steps and take off. We need him to look to score more right now until Harper and Fox come back. I'm ok with him playing point, he just needs to quit worrying about looking cool and protect each possession with a little more urgency

it's amazing how far down your throat Wemby's dick is
It's amazing how much you despise thinking before you post...

FYI (Not sure facts matter to u tbh) I've spent a lot more posts criticizing wemby his game and his character than anyone else in the team.

SpursTalk or Baselinebums, nothing changes, you're still the idiot :ROFLMAO:

its also kind of sad how indispensable Harrison Barnes is. he's once again the only reliable shooter on the roster.

yes i know keldon is shooting a higher percentage, and thats good! but as its been pointed out, he is (smartly) only taking wide open 3's. barnes is the only one who can make those quick catch and shoot 3's in the face of a closeout with any meaningful consistency. yeah if champagnie is wide open in the corner and can get his feet set and everything he'll knock those down, but thats not exactly what's needed

they need to either force feed Bryant minutes he's not ready for yet and endure growing pains, or send him to Austin

im also not really that mad at champagnie. he's a $3 mil player who can come in and given the team 15-20 non-catastrophic minutes which is valuable. he really has no business being out there in crunch time but we are short-handed so it is what it is. with that said, i remember bench scrubs like Vujacic coming in and knocking down clutch free throws to seal games in the NBA finals. i fully expected julian to brick one because he's never really been in a high stakes spot before, but still... frustrating.

heck heres a text exchange i was having with 2 laker fan buddies from school, one of whom (M) was actually at the game. julian missing was very predictable

Feels like we’re sorely missing 1-2 guys who can reliably shoot off the dribble. We really don’t have anyone who teams would need to fight over screens to chase and make sure they don’t get a good look. Guys like Barnes/Champagnie are fine spot-up shooters but it’s not like they’re running all over the place forcing teams to chase them around.

One player, even Fox won't change much what happens when Wemby gets the ball and the decisions he takes.

Fox won't make him ask the ball closer to the rim or won't make him work on a vital go-to move.

He won't change the dumb IQs we have on the rosters, the lack of bigs or the useless coach etc

The issues are a lot deeper than it looks
No doubt Wemby has to learn to handle a double team better but I disagree that Fox won’t change much. He will absolutely lower the frequency of those problems. Not only that but he’s gonna drawn enough attention himself to give the other guys cleaner looks.

Some of the low IQ stuff you talk about becomes less of an issue when these guys aren’t crowded so heavily.

Role players are looking like role players. Another first option scorer definitely will open up things.

he seems to be the only one cutting to the dunkers spot when Wemby is doubled ... i wanna see more of that

Yeah I should have phrased it differently.

Obviously Fox will be a great help but I meant he won't change issues that he has nothing to do with like Wemby's decision-making or positioning, the lack of bigs and wings or shooting (despite being decent himself) or Mitch's coaching.

I think most observers and fans are underrating how bad this roster is for the supposed goals.

After a poor night’s sleep, I’m not as cliff jumpy now. I think what frustrated me most about the loss besides Wemby is that our guys outplayed them for significant stretches. At least with the Suns, they never had a chance 😂
Neither team played great. Sure Doncic had almost triple-double but almost lost by a tip-in. The officiating was atrocious with over 65 personal fouls called, ticky-tack on Doncic and Smart’s flops. Terrible!

Tbh we haven’t seen this roster. We are seeing a shell of it.

Mitch addresses Wembys need to "demand" the ball.
Ok.

How about addressing the minions who fail to GET him the ball?

Sochan played an appropriate role last night I though. Rotation minutes. Focus on defense. The rebounding numbers were terrible but he was chasing Luka full court so I'll see how he does when actually playing down low. His shooting form was better it looked like.

Absolutely agree. I complain about reffing in every game but a historic night for call volume? That’s unacceptable regardless of who they’re calling them on tbh

This may sound stupid, but it helps to see that Wemby at least got 19. When I was griping about him yesterday, my mental count without seeing his stats was about 12 or 13.

He still had an unacceptable impact on the game, but 19 on an almost equally terrible night as the Suns, soothes, even if just a little.
