Game Thread Spurs (30-13) @ Rockets (25-15) (Tue 1/20/26) [7:00PM CDT]

Its gotten to the point where i cannot watch a spurs game and also read this forum…

Ive never seen such weak minded fragile fans as this…i mean…just post after post of whiny fragile cliff jumping weakness and blame blame blame whaaaa whaaaa

I enjoyed the game, spurs tried and ran out of gas…im not pissed at anyone or worried about houston or wanting a trade or slamming our exhausted players…

It is a grind and they battled their asses off and just didnt have it. Wemby was cold and his shot was not falling and houston woke up a little and enjoyed a little home cooking.

Just the nba grind. The playoffs will have more rest between games and this is a solid well-coached team.

Im proud of the boys no matter what.
Whatever Peter cunt Hole. Oh sorry Holt.

It’s honestly concerning that Mitch seems to have no accountability in losses. It’s always the players (which is true for half of the case) but the other half belongs to you idiot.

Agreed. 1 of 82 back to back’s absolutely suck. Especially on the road against a team that didn’t have a game the night before. Move on.

Holy hell I finally looked at the box score and we were 14-50 from 3. Who the hell told this team they’re good enough to shoot 50 fucking 3’s?

We have dumbfuck rationalizing fans like our front office. This is a recurring theme. Out of our 14 losses we have blown double figure leads in 12 of them. Let that sink in downs boy has blown double figure leads in more than 25 percent of games he coaches. The number is even higher if you count around 10 that we barely won after blowing double digit leads. He is a horrible coach.

This is a young team learning on the job. The 2003 team was notorious for blowing huge leads, including in the playoffs. I’m not saying they’re winning a championship this season, but this shit happens when you have a bunch of young guys trying to figure it out. And yes, that includes the coach.

It’s doesn’t have to be that way. Get Malone or someone else with experience

On one hand, the losses suck and shows we are far away from contending. So I get the frustration. On the other hand, it’s typical of an inexperienced team. Other teams can just out execute us. That’s why losing in the 1st round isn’t unlikely. The only team I think we can beat despite our inexperience is the Lakers.

What pains me the most is knowing how great Wemby can be close to the basket but his go-to move when we need a score during crunch time is a heavily contested, falling down, long jumper. He did it over and over.

cant believe they just let Reed Sheppard shit on them, just non chalant with the ball and it seemed like he causes about 4 spurs turnovers in the clutch

another blown lead and they lost this time

surely they could have gotten better shots in the fourth quarter. 14 points, damn

right... which is why our 4th youngest player and best perimeter defender is tied to the bench while uncle barnes watches reed shepherd slap him with his member

Yeah we got a couple rooks but how many years we gonna use young excuse? Really only 3 guys can use that. And quit blaming refs, this is on our star player n starting pg

sure, guys its the players
it's the not giving nasty er...um whatever that ever meant
it's this that and the other
Sure, is heck not getting a lead and trying to field, oh I don't know
a line up featuring Sochan, Brant, Olynyk, Kornet and Waters....
Or any combination of that with whoever else you choose to blame instead of the clueless, inept coach.

You enjoyed watching castle play like angel reese? That’s fun for you?
I watched him struggle. I also watched him get absolutely mauled and abused over and over - and the kid kept com8mg back and fighting and scrapping and htting the floor and getting up and continued being

FIERCE

So yes , i am enjoying the fuck out of watching these young spurs getting experience and learning and growing and competing like bad asses.

If you want to keep bitching- just think back to
Zollins and malakai and wesley and primo and then thank the motherfuckin universe that we got some nba players now.

We have NBA players but not NBA coach (yet). He maybe will be one day, maybe not, but he's not him yet. He's too soft with players and to stiff with rotations.

This is so dumb.. how are you not impressed that a team full of players who have been doing nothing but LOSING for the past 6 seasons are actually capable of finding ways to win and being #2 in the west?! How do you not realize that this shit does NOT usually happen. OKC Thunder learned how to do it but this is so rare. Usually it’s super difficult for a consistently bad team to kick bad habits but somehow this team is doing it. Some of that HAS to be credited to coaching. In-game coaching is the main attribute (and he needs to get better at it) but it seems like Mitch and the coaching staff have put together some good things outside of the games to have these guys prepared enough to be winning like this. People here are being too narrow minded about this whole thing and not seeing the full picture.

Until Fox and Wemby threw up two retarded threes late in the third the Spurs were 14-35 from behind the line and were shredding the Rockets from distance. But yes they seriously missed their last 15 three point attempts. Those two retard threes in the third plus 8 more missed threes to begin the fourth were the game, as the Rockets went on a 13-0 run from the time Fox missed his idiotic let's pretend we're Curry three attempt with 42 seconds left in the third until 7:29 left in the game when Harper got the Spurs their first points of the fourth. It was actually a 15-0 run but I wanted to start counting from Fox's idiotic quick three point attempt with 42 seconds left in the quarter. Ugh a low percentage run down the floor and just jack shit up move instead using that time to get a two for one without needing to rush a shot. And then Wemby did the same bullshit the next play. Such low BBIQ on this team; it so desperately needs a coach to give them some fucking guidance how to not play like morons. This team wins strictly on talent.

wrong. Just because we are ahead doesnt mean coach gets a pass blowing leads in nearly half the games. He is a bad coach. Young Ime didnt do this. Young Daignault didnt do this. Young Muzzula didnt do this. Young Brown etc etc

I see that point of view but realistically we should’ve known Wemby would be ready early, and getting Fox is a sign that you are ready to compete now (whether you agree with the trade and contract or not, surely that was their intention).

I wonder if we even interviewed other options. It’s a huge risk to give the reigns to a unproven guy like Mitch, it works out sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. For all I know he’ll figure it out, but guess all I’m saying is that if he doesn’t, I just don’t think the FO will care and will get in their feels about it and ride or die with him.

If he was at least showing progress on some things I’d have more confidence, but he doesn’t seem to understand what might be going wrong and keeps making the same mistakes over and over, or I guess if we wanna be nice, we can at least say he’s certainly not looking for solutions and is sticking to what I consider to be flawed principles.
No disagreements here. I’m not trying to defend Mitch, I’m just saying it’s easy to see what the FO was going for and how they’d like feel stuck at this point.

I think it’s clear that Mitch was a hand chosen successor by a guy who has wrestled complete control of the organization with zero accountability. And we are stuck in no-mans land with the outcome. If the team were failing to meet expectations, it would be easy for the FO to move on this offseason. But barring a complete disaster in the remaining 38 games, there is zero chance the FO make a change. At this point, all we can do is hope Mitch catches up.

We're just a couple of Ls ahead of that top6 battle.
It's not like we're guaranteed a top3 seed already.
There’s an entire thread with people talking about how we’re ahead of schedule at the midpoint. You’re going to argue that we’re not?
