With the food stuff, Tobey was pretending to be paying attention to the game but then Vic had the steal on giannis or something and you knew he had his face crammed into his fuckin’ dinner instead of commenting on it.

Tbh the junior varsity quality of the broadcast for years (even with bill) has been a real turnoff for someone like me getting to know this franchise and has, at times, made me wish Wemby went to a market with more juice. This is just a low budget children’s program too often.

Turns out it's the highest it has been in two years today and I got crazy congested last night (readings are always taken early morning) so Wemby having an awesome game last night is probably a good sign. Guess if he looks like shit tomorrow we can maybe blame the cedar pollen.

The halfway point in the season and we're on pace for a 56 win season ya'll. We have absolutely nothing to complain about. Except that every time Wemby looks hurt I pretty much meltdown, that is.

Came into the season expecting something like 50-52 wins and that looks about right, assuming Victor or De'Aaron doesn't get hurt and miss a major part of the second half of the season.

Kuzma has his issues but at #27 overall he's pretty cleanly been a successful pick

also lakers didnt take him one spot ahead, it was 2. Tony Bradley was picked in between Kuzma and White.

for perspective, the guys taken just ahead of Kuzma were Tyler Lydon, Anzejs Pasecnks, and Caleb Swanigan

From the standpoint of being potentially on track to win a championship in the next 1-2 years, you feel like this team needs Victor, obviously to be healthy the rest of the way, and a good playoff run. Hopefully the experience of playing in the conference finals. It’s going to be interesting.

This Tobey guy has been a disaster, Dan Wiese is trying, but he is a real downgrade from Schoening too. Were in the dark ages of Spurs Play By play. IMO started with the hire of Elliott, been a slow decent ever since. Tobey is "putting himself on tape" looking for bigger and better at the expense of even watching the actual game.
That being said, syncing the radio feed on SiriusXM or NBA.com with the video is worth a try, as Schoening is more tolerable than Tobey’s constant one-way flirting with Sean. However, the delay makes it tricky to enjoy commenting on game threads or on X.

We’re in the dark ages of NBA broadcasting, in general. Nobody hired for these jobs seem to have been tested against any demographic’s interests. We get Doris because…who was she for, exactly? Which sports fan likes listening to a guy like Tobey who seems like he never picked up a ball of any kind in his life? Why are we supposed to consider WNBA players experts about NBA basketball? Why Kendrick Perkins, just in general?

The marketing departments seem to confuse a captive audience for a satisfied audience. You get clicks and viewers because the content is inherently interesting and despite choices made about on air talent. So you make a few shitty decisions based on that and they get validated by inertia.

An analogy to this is the boys on the dance team(s). That’s for absolutely nobody. Gay men are overall infrequent viewers of nba basketball and women aren’t usually attracted to gay men. Neither of those statements should be controversial but I imagine some of you might have a reflex about it. But all of this is for a theoretical audience that will never be a part of the nba.

I watched the game later that day/morning (saw some of the start live, but had to finish watching the rest later. Great win and happy to finally see the Spurs play a very good overall game (except the deep reserves at the end ).
Also, really happy Victor was able to come back and play.

Can't Victor wear knee pads? I've never worn them myself, so I don't know how they work and/or if they'd provide a little bit of protection. I remember D-Wade used to wear them and he is someone that'd be on the ground quite a lot due to him driving to the rim all the time. Do they help against knocks at all? Anyone know?

Yeah, good call, he shouldn't be trying to take charges against guys that are that big and strong. If he can't play positional defense and/or block the shot, just let it go, don't take the charge. Vic can't be getting hit and laying on the floor every game.
Someone said (an ex-player I think - I think the player was speaking about Larry, if not Larry, another player in that era who was diving on the floor for loose balls, hustle plays all the time) to stop diving on the floor if he doesn't want to shorten his career.
I don't know what you guys think of that? I don't agree with it fully, but I do think not taking charges against bigger, heavier guys is one thing to maybe not do so much of.

Yeah, first thing I mentioned earlier in the thread. Loved seeing KJ and Vic do it. TD used to do it from time to time and when he did, he meant business. I last recall he did in against Utah in the WCF (he may have done it a few times after, but I don't remember). I think he had a bad game the game before against Utah and he came out with a shaved head the next game and was really locked in.
