Game Thread Spurs (28-13) vs Timberwolves (27-14) (Sat 1/17/26) [7:00 PM CDT]

Off topic but lmao Knicks. 2-8 in their last 10 games. Casuals and some media idiots talking about "Knicks are contenders". :st-rollin:
They need to trade for Giannis and be done with it. While KAT seems to light us up when we play, he’s generally a frustrating as hell player. Don’t think you can win with both he and Jalen.

So is Wemby that stupid or Mitch. To try and miss that free throw on purpose. ? Either way we have low iq team. This team blows every big lead. I put 5k moneyline at half on twolves. Easy monwy.

second half was torture to watch, thought they was gonna blow a third game against the twolves

if you're a neutral fan, that's a great showcase game, Ant is just a great shot maker

Keldon, Fox and Wemby all made clutch shots, made enough plays to finally come out on top

Don't forget to mention they're bigger than us. Randle is very strong/physical and McDaniels is extremely long, so our 3 headed backcourt Castle/Fox/Harper have a very hard time penetrating and we're forced to become a shooting team which as we know isn't our forte right now with Devin's absence and Barnes/Champ relative slumps. Thank god Keldon is still making his threes.

Yup absolutely agree - this was what I said a couple weeks ago after Spurs had just beat OKC 3 times in a row trying to see who could match up the best:

The Twolves team on paper at least has a lot of guys that can give this team trouble. Second best rim protector in the game who’s not a stick like Holmgren can blunt the effectiveness of our guards. An initiator who’s as strong and even more athletic than our best POA defender. Their 1-3 all can shoot the 3 and are all good defenders. A strong 4 that can out-muscle our wings. They’ve beaten the spurs without Wemby earlier this year, but those two games in January will be a real litmus test to see how exploitable some of the spurs’ weaknesses are.

he was never guarded

whoever this team plays in the first round, it would be a toss up, we just dont know what this team is yet

the only matchup im pretty confident they'd win against are the blazers and the lakers 😆

Wemby being cute, just hit the damn ft and end the game

baseline bums would be on total meltdown if Ant hit the halfcourt shot to send the game to ot

If a home game against Utah is being called an important game then we can just assume every game is important and stop saying it altogether
No, we can say it against teams that have bad records that we need to beat and if we don’t beat them it’s because of letdowns mentally. playing Denver, for example, is not a must win. You hope to win but you recognize how good they are.

A much needed win.

Definitely miss Devin on the court and his shooting prowess. In a related note, I will definitely not miss having to contemplate Devin's street clothes attire on the bench. Possibly the worst dressed man in the NBA?

Wemby's on purpose missed free throw was perplexing. I think he was trying make sure there was no clock for them and then it bounced out of bounds stopping the clock! Oops.

That missed technical freethrow and dumbass decision to throw at the rim were pretty uncluch though tbh.
Yeah, that was bad. But overall, Wemby had a fantastic 4th quarter if he didn’t play as well as he did we lose because Anthony Edwards was in full on Kobe Bryant mode in that game. Obviously the coaching staff needs to talk to Wemby about that stupid decision he made at the foul line because that was bonehead 101.
