Game Thread Spurs (28-13) vs Timberwolves (27-14) (Sat 1/17/26) [7:00 PM CDT]

Yeah, that was bad. But overall, Wemby had a fantastic 4th quarter if he didn’t play as well as he did we lose because Anthony Edwards was in full on Kobe Bryant mode in that game. Obviously the coaching staff needs to talk to Wemby about that stupid decision he made at the foul line because that was bonehead 101.
Agreed 100%. Without Wemby, Fox, and Keldon heroics this is an embarrassing loss tbh.

Didn't get to watch. How was Castle tonight? His guy got 55 smh
He was questionable with an illness, was obviously affecting him.
His playmaking was good, he made a couple of 3s, but his finishing at the rim was bad, got blocked a couple of time.

Called for some soft fouls and wasn't even guarding Ant when he went off since he was in foul trouble and eventually fouled out trying to get an offensive rebound.

Still some growing to do. Thanks for the deets!

Edwards on a Kobe mode, the Spurs lost that without Wemby’s heroics. Stressful game giving back the 25 pts lead but I’d take the win over TPups especially

I'm old enough to remember when the TWolves kept feeding Anthony Edwards in a massive blowout trying to get 50 points for him against us, and their ass coach let them.
I just finished watching the game/game replay for the first time now. This didn't turn out too well. I am really glad the Spurs won the game as I was beside myself watching in the second half. Not sure how people here reacted live, but I guess I'll find out once I read through the game thread. Darn lucky we won the game. AE went OFF, and Victor also was big for the Spurs.

Put some knee pads on, Vic.

I did mention it in the last game thread, but probably no one read it as it was a day or so after the game, but would knee pads help from knocks on the side? I know D-Wade used to wear them I think because he spent a bit of time on the ground due to driving to the rim, but I've never worn them before and don't know how they work/where they provide protection (if it's just the front of the knees?). Anyone here worn them before?

Man I just feel like Ant is going to go nuclear at some point and gonna cuck us again. This is what happens when you havent beaten this team in 2 seasons.
Looks like you were spot on, but luckily the Spurs scraped through with the win.

Luka's defense is really being exposed now. lol maybe Nico is right.

I thought Luka was in the Men Health magazine and slimmed down in the off season. Thought his defense and athleticism might improved due to his fitter body...But he instead has regressed further on defensive end and also lesser athleticism on offensive end. :st-lol: :st-lol: :st-lol:
Didn't the Mavericks offer Luka for AE? I thought I read a rumor that they made that offer before going with the Lakers.

We need to track Bald Wemby stats vs non Bald Wemby
Vic's looking a little Jordan-esque game wise with the shaved head. Keep the monk focus.

Posted in the wrong thread lmao. This is beautiful. This is what we should look like most of the time
Yeah, wish that were true. It didn't workout that way in the second half :(. Spurs are so inconsistent (even in the same game!).

They look like they might sleepwalk their way to another embarrassing loss.
Good early call, but fortunately, they scraped out with the win

Everyone sees this coming except our own stupid players tbh.
They really gotta fix this. How are they this stupid that they keep slacking off and let teams back into games. I hope they wake up sooner and not later. Mitch must do jack shit at half time. He's also poor at in-game adjustments.

For fucks sake bring Wemby and Fox back into the game fuck your goddamn set rotations with no room for adjustment.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I watched the game replay. Fucking terribly rigid coaching. Make a freaking adjustment.

sure wish we could play our generational talent more than 20 minutes a game
It's getting ridiculous. How can you play a basketball game based on preconceived minutes and times that players plays throughout the game. Can you not adjust within the game and play him at different junctures if he's doing well or if the team is not doing well with him off the floor? Is there any wiggle room for any kind of adjustment?

How’s that not doing anything about Edwards working out for you Mitch?
If the Spurs had of lost this game, a good chunk of it would have been on Mitch.

Wemby wants this shit
Ant wants with shit
It was a pretty amazing duel between the two. They both wanted it.

Anthony Edwards, what a baller
Unreal performance.

The fuck why not just make it?
Yep. It was a stupid play from Vic. No idea what he was thinking. Just make it and it's game over.

What a shitty fucking win but I'll take it.

Quickly gaining a hatred for the T-Wolves. All their players minus Conley and their coach are all bitch made. Edwards is great but hate his personality.
His game would make him one of my favourte players, but like you said, I also don't love the guy on a personal level. Not my type of personality. He's an incredible player, though.

lol Vic trying to be creative reminded me of last year all star weekend bullshit stunt with CP3
I can't remember what they did. I know it was something silly, but don't remember. Oh, it just popped into my head. It was the skills challenge, wasn't it? lol, that was so stupid.

Great post game interview by Fox
Fox nailed it perfectly.

I usually agree with this but that Beringer kid sparked their 3rd quarter run.
Yeah, good call. He was the spark that started it. Maybe that doesn't happen if those two play, but can't play the what if game. Spurs played bad and this one felt like a moral loss.

I know I'm greedy but man if that last ping pong went to the Spurs, the team with Flagg instead of Harper would be great
Man, I wish you didn't say this. I wanted the Spurs to win that lottery so bad, and to come so close, it stung a little. I tried to be appreciative and happy to have gotten Dylan, but I thought Cooper would have fit better. Really can't be geedy.

I find it funny how the people in the front rows are always dressed like they are going out to dinner at Applebees. I know they are probably super rich and probably think they are above wearing jerseys or gear, but show some spirit dammit!

I like that you summarize your thoughts and answer diff posts on diff parts of the game. You definitely had a better day than the rest of us, health-wise. 😂

Cant imagine the last time I watched a full game on replay, probably 2014 tbh.

Yep. Great point. How much of that damage did Ant do when Castle went out or was not guarding him. That'd be interesting to see, but the refs did help Ant out a bit by calling soft fouls on Steph. Maybe Ant doesn't get going to that extent if Steph didn't get called for soft fouls on him.

Not able to watch them live a lot of the time due to timezone difference. I've watched only maybe 5 or 6 games live this season. I only just starting reading through the threads after watching the games later. I liked a lot of the posts this time around.
Hopefully no one thinks I am trying to show anyone up by quoting certain posts from earlier in the game as that is not my intention (Like you said, I just wanted to give my thoughts) as I'd be really bad if I were posting when watching live.

I am really glad I didn't watch this one live. I don't think I could have handled it too well. I wasn't happy in the second half at all, but, would have been even worse if I were watching it unfold live when they let the TWolves back in the game and almost take it. Victor was awesome. Like Manu said, Victor is extraordinary.

Pop established the “Vic does what he wants” dynamic. The franchise is allowing him to explore things at his own discretion. It’s probably a net positive but it emboldens him to do a lot of knuckle head stuff.

“Bald ___” was used about 50 times before that, which sucked some juice out of the call. Tobey’s not cutting it lately.

Ah, I had it on mute cause of the NFL game until the last 5 mins of the game. The main thing that annoys me with Tobey is his emo delivery when opposing teams are on a big run. I like him well enough otherwise, though. Tough to replace Bill.
