Game Thread Spurs (28-13) vs Timberwolves (27-14) (Sat 1/17/26) [7:00 PM CDT]

Par for the course. There’s always only 1 East player that’s in the top5 except maybe during the early year.
I’m floored by how this has been the NBA landscape since Jordan retired the first time. You’d think it would be back and forth more but the eastern conference in general just has incompetent front offices 😂

If the Nuggets win tonight and tomorrow they will bump the Spurs down to 3rd in the west. Come on Wizards!!

He’s up there in the most punchable faces in the league.

Divincenzo
Podziemski
Draymond
Gary Payton
Steve Kerr

Sorry I couldn’t get past the warriors before filling out my top 5.
You gotta throw Steph in there. Guy’s a complete juvenile even though he’s what, 37?

This dude Ant is absolutely nuts. When he got drafted I thought there was legit a non-negligible chance he might bust. Then in year 2 he became a decent 3 point shooter. Then he became a good defender. Then he became a good distributor. Last year he became an elite 3 point shooter on volume. This year he's an elite clutch player. It's ridiculous how he just downloads a new skill every season. Watching him go up against SGA is great because they're both elite but have such different styles.

No Caruso?

Caruso and Dillon Brooks for me. Zach Collins also has a punchable face. Even thought so when he was a Spur.

Jokic is supposed to come back end of January...

So OF COURSE in the meantime they face:
- Wizards today (10-30)
- Hornets (15-27)
- Lakers (24-15)
- Wizards again (10-30)
- Bucks (17-24)
- Grizzlies (17-23)
- Pistons (30-10)
- Nets (12-27)

6 OUT OF 8 GAMES AGAINST BOTTOM FEEDERS
6 OUT OF 8 GAMES AGAINST EASTERN TEAMS SMH

When I watch him, it seems like he suffers from Fox-itis where he becomes too passive for his ability in games. I think he'd be the scoring champion if he were more aggressive like he was tonight

Yeah, I wonder if he gets up for games against the spurs because Wemby gave him some shade during AS weekend 2 years ago, implying that he wasn't competitive or something when they were horsing around during the skills challenge. Ant pretends to be a clown but he's very competitive.

Also, he's one of the only perimeter initiators (maybe THE only perimeter initiator) in the league who actually has a physical advantage over Castle, so the Wolves will always be a tough out whenever the spurs play them

I agree with your assessment 100%

Don't forget to mention they're bigger than us. Randle is very strong/physical and McDaniels is extremely long, so our 3 headed backcourt Castle/Fox/Harper have a very hard time penetrating and we're forced to become a shooting team which as we know isn't our forte right now with Devin's absence and Barnes/Champ relative slumps. Thank god Keldon is still making his threes.
