Game Thread Spurs (16-7) @ Lakers (17-6) (Wed 12/10/25) [9:00PM CDT]

Mitch, 🏰 and 🦊 said as much. This year has been a revelation for Keldon and I cannot be happier. He deserves it.
Keldon has morphed into 6th man of year good. A guy who if he keeps this up could continue on a 20 plus million per year deal. Kudos. I was clamoring to trade him in of season now wow. He is untradeable heart and soul of team. Agreed

It's not so much that Keldon changed, its that the system is putting him in a spot to succeed. It's also why Vassell is having a much better season and why our offense is all of sudden elite even though we don't even have Wemby out there. Boy was I wrong about Mitch. Right now he seems like a damn good coach.

"Only the NBA Cup Championship Game doesn't count towards a team's regular season record or statistics; all group stage, quarterfinal, and semifinal games are official regular season contests that affect standings, with other regular season games scheduled to ensure 82 games for all teams. "
This means that the Lakers lost a crucial game against a direct competitor for playoff qualification. This disadvantage must be accepted by the NBA to justify the importance of the Cup. Teams eliminated before the quarterfinals will have two additional games in the season, inevitably against other eliminated teams, so in theory easier. But above all, the team eliminated in the quarterfinals loses an additional game against a team that is likely to be a contender for the top of the table. That's not insignificant. The same goes for the game against the Thunder. The loss will count in the regular season, whereas if the Spurs had lost, they would have faced a weaker team (which will be the case for the Lakers). It's an interesting system.

This man needs to learn how to project with his diaphragm, as relying on his head voice has left his larynx and vocal cords sounding like he gargles shards of broken glass in the morning.
Nah, that's his thing. His fans love it. However a few lessons with voice coach could help him with adding distortions to his voice without ruining it.

I saw that too ESPN still have the Lakers and Spurs at +1 in win streaks and the game isn't being g shown on ESPN NBA standings. I was excited to see us rise and the Lakers fall in the West standings

No complaints about the discrepancy in free throws this time, I guess ... 🤡
Weirdly flat game from the Lakers for the most part, but who cares, still counts as a quality win for the Spurs.

told y'all the Lakers are pretenders. Their point differential backs that up. Reaves is not a 28 PPG scorer on a playoff team, their defense is trash, they don't have enough shooting and LeBron doesn't fit their roster. They will fall in the standings.

Really loved Mitch's gameplan. I was totally content with giving up those floaters while Kornet played drop coverage. You give them those shots, they are not getting lay ups or dunks and they don't have enough shooting. Smart got hot, but is not a great shooter which is why we were willing to give those shots up. Also pushing the ball in transition while Luka argues with the refs was great to see :st-lol:

Lakers rely on whistles blowing. Big difference from this game and our first one. Played Luka mostly single coverage and for the most part didn't reach and kept hands up. Forced the Lakers to have to rely on everyone else to work harder to score. Aside from the first quarter start Spurs adjusted and just plied pressure on Luka and felt like the game plan was to just let him get his but make everyone else work for it.

Smart hitting somewhere around 5 or 6 open look 3s was annoying, but Lakers struggled to keep up with our high tempo. I don't know how Reddick has a job coaching that team they don't know how to play defense under him

Reaves did not look like an all star today. We should have all listened to @Exstatic.
He’s a good, but not great player who you can subtract from their offense if you have enough good defenders. Fox did a phenomenal job of denying, then bothering him when he did get the ball.

Marcus Smart was much more of a problem than he was. If Smart doesn’t play, this is a 30-35 point destruction.

To me it looks like Reaves plays better without Doncic. Obviously, Doncic is the guy, but Reaves has a hard time paired with him because of his limited athletic ability. There are better situations around the league for Reaves and LA is probably better replacing him with an athlete who can defend...
