Game Thread Spurs (14-6) @ Magic (13-8) (Wed 12/3/25) [6:00PM CDT]

To be fair, we didn't exactly draft well from 2018-22, so it was about time for us to hit 3 years in a row.

I guess Harper and Castle combined makes up for the Josh Primo pick
:st-lol:
It’s been really nice picking, you know, the projected pick based on talent instead of the sneaky off the radar name that could be decent if every star is aligned and Tim, Tony, and Manu are still on the team.

To be fair, picking 1,4,2 has a much better hit rate than 9,10,11,17,19,20,26

Interesting note from the Last 2 Minute report:

ORL got away with a Defensive 3-seconds violation on the final possession: https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0022500326

Should have been a FT and then ball side out of bounds. They would have likely fouled us, and had we gone up 3 they'd have the ball with more time on the clock. So... a missed call that didn't go our way, but it probably worked out better for us.

It’s a Hail Mary either way, being down one or two isn’t gonna make a difference if it goes in
Of course it's going to make a difference. They would need a three to win and a two to tie with De'Aaron making both. Why would you want to give them more chances to win? Missing one, the can win by a three, two or even get a foul and win with two free throws or simply tie the game if only making1/2 free throws. It absolutely makes a difference. All the guys that said not to miss the shot intentionally were 100% correct with the strategy there. Still time on the clock and Orlando had a timeout. Franz likely could have had a game winning two if Luke didn't block it and if De'Aaron were to intentionally miss the second free throw.

Wow. I've known for years that Volleyball players have insane hops. I've never really looked into what kind of training they do, but I think I need to take a look. Some of the guys can jump out of the gym.

i mean that was a clear foul, Isaac is just really dumb for reaching when he didnt have to at all
Jonathon Isaac made a bad play at the end on the foul, though, but Fox does that to people. The gravity he draws, makes people do some silly stuff. It was great hearing Fox's explanation about the play at the end in the on-court interview where he said he didn't get the shot he wanted, dribbled and fumbled the ball a bit and the fumble is likely what made Isaac reach in and foul him. Was an great explanation from Fox breaking down that last play.

but they have to rebound, then either get the ball up court or call a timeout. How much time is gonna be left before a layup can occur?
This statement kind of feels like you haven't watch much NBA basketball over the years? Have you not seen all the miracle plays and finishes in NBA games when there is this much time or less left on the clock?

Harper's gotta be on a minutes limit, right? That's the only way to explain him playing low 20s minutes since he came back.
He is. I wasn't able to watch the game live, watched it 8 or so hours later. Even though it wasn't live and nothing could be done about it since the game already happened, I was yelling for Mitch to put Dylan back out there. I don't understand who is advising Mitch as he said it's not his decision after the last game. I can't remember, but in one of the interviews either before this game or after the previous game, he said it's not his decision and he's glad it's not (made it sound like he'd play Dylan more and that someone else is capping Dylan's minutes. Not sure if it's medial staff or someone higher up in the organization making those decisions?). To be fair, Mitch also did talk about being out, you lose that NBA conditioning pretty quickly and it takes time to get it back. His explanation was good, but I don't know, I'd like to see Dylan play a bit more, especially in crunch time.
Fwiw, I don't think Wagner would've made that, it was a really difficult angle.
To me, if looked like it was a clean look he was going to get. He faked out Julian and had him beat. I think there was at least a 50% or more that shot could have gone in if Luke didn't block it. That was like a game winner, but in the form of a block IMO.
Fox and Harper combined for 12 turnovers but they both stayed aggressive till the very end. awesome stuff.
I don't watch Orlando much over the years, but people have said Suggs is a really good defender, and I was very impressed. I'd say Orlando's defensive players had a lot to do with at least some of those turnovers.
Watched the replay a few times. Clock didn’t start until Wagner’s feet touched the ground. Is that the rule? Google couldn’t help me.
Good question. I'd like to know this too. I thought the clock should start as soon as he touches the ball, shouldn't it?

By the way, I noticed Brian Wright in the tunnel after the game. Does he normally travel with the team on away games?
