Game Thread Spurs (16-7) @ Lakers (17-6) (Wed 12/10/25) [9:00PM CDT]

Every Cup game counts for the regular season except for the final, that's the 83rd game for those two teams and it doesn't count.

Other teams that were eliminated already got their full schedule, it's down to just 4 eliminated teams to get theirs.
I'm not sure about it, but I think we'll play the Suns in another regular season game if we don't beat the Lakers.

Yesterday someone said we played the Bulls in one of those replacement games after we got eliminated from the Cup a couple of years ago, so maybe we could play one of those two Eastern teams that get eliminated, not sure.
But if we beat the Lakers, semi-final against OKC will count for the regular season record.

If we lose, I hope it's the Suns because Booker probably won't be back and I think our guys have enough spine not to lose to them for the third time in a bit more than a month.
Thanks. I was just curious with how you phrased it as another poster pointed out. I now realized you were framing it as “it’s not as bad to lose to the Lakers” 😂 just woke up

OTOH, does this mean we get extra games with Lakers and OKC (if we win ofc) and get 2 less against 2 other opponents?

Since this Cup thing started, 80 regular season games are pre-determined.
75 regular games, 5 Cup group games that also count for the regular season.
8 teams make the Cup play-offs, 22 eliminated teams get those 2 missing games assigned to them in an unknown way. :st-lol:

Cup quarter-final is the 81st game.
Cup semi-final is the 82nd. Both count for the regular season record.
Getting eliminated in the quarter-final means you play an ordinary 82nd regular season game against another team that also lost in the quarter-final.
Cup final is the 83rd game, doesn't count for the regular season record.

I can't explain it any simpler. And I could be mistaken about how 81st and 82nd game get assigned after elimination.

I did hear a follow up on Silver & Black Coffee Hour that we'll play the loser of OKC/PHX, I think on Sunday

Not sure I'll be able to watch this one live, I don't expect much.
As for the regular season standings, we're very unlikely to win both of these upcoming games, losing to the Lakers would mean getting an easier regular season game compared to having to play Cup semi-final in OKC.
Semi-final would be in Vegas, not in OKC

The Lakers nearly lost to the struggling Mavs in Cup play back on November 28th, when Kidd had just introduced Ryan Nembhard as the starting point guard. With our guards, we should have an edge over the Lakers. LeBron is super slow and can’t defend the fast break. If the refs keep the whistle out of their mouths, the Spurs should win with or without Wemby.

Very honorable of you to take the hit on this GT, we all appreciate your sacrifices.

I have very little hope for this one. I was hoping for a Pels blowout where most key players would be resting but obv that didn't happen (although looked like Fox and Vassell might as well have been resting lool). Even if we get Vic back, I feel like he's gonna be rusty , and without him we'll need a stellar Kornet game which I don't have hopes for. Our perimeter defense has also been atrocious so with Reeves and Luka firing on all cylinders this could get ugly fast.

Wonder what the O/U bet on how many fouls the lakers are gonna get is.
Kornet against second stringers is a good matchup. Against starters, it's a more difficult task. If VW can play even a shortened stint, it would make a difference.

Spurs 3-0 against Eastern Conference quarterfinalists; 0-3 against WC. About time to turn it around.

still nothing on the injury report, i think we will get the update next hour though, iirc they dont have to post injury updates until 5pm local time. as game is in LA, that would be in half an hour, though the next report wouldnt publish until 30 minutes later

Should be any minute now... I'm hitting refresh like a mad man

I was waiting on this as well. I usually read injury reports when I wake up around 630 am PH time

Tall order to expect the refs to call it fairly, but luck the Fakers. We steamrolling this if Wemby plays and the 3 PGs don’t all lay eggs.

Not surprising, but disappointing. Last time Castle picked up Luka he got in foul trouble. Would not be surprised if you see Sohan on Luka. Would be nice if the refs weren’t so quick on the whistles. Better pray….. 😂

Wouldve been the biggest game of Wemby’s young career. Very disappointing.

If the injury is worse than advertised, it’s very bad for us.

If they’re just babying him, it’s bad for us.

Lose lose

this babying of china doll pussies is sickening -

its a fucking calf ache - koby the rapist would have played thru it and limped for two games until the pain went away -

if you cannot suck it up - spare us all the fucking "shaolin temple discipline and training" and the "dream hakeem workouts" and the "no one has trained like me"

im calling his ass out - fuck this...

Mitch should honestly just let the third string play the whole game fuck it. Team giving huge middle finger to the league and worst of all the fans by keeping Wemby out this long.
