Game Thread Spurs (6-2) vs Pelicans (2-6) (Sat 11/08/25) [7:00PM CDT]

He acknowledged the 6-2 start without himself and he was basically saying he wants to be additive to that. Mentioned Wemby being on a track to being possibly one of the greats. I didn't hear him say anything that made me think he felt his future here was short term. He did just sign a 4 year extension, I think he is just at the point in his career where he is established and the pressures of the next contract aren't a thing for a couple years.

If he gives us a handful of years of getting buckets like he did tonight then I would say its a good arrangement.
I agree. I didn’t sense anything negative really.
It’s wemby’s team…

Sonics jerseys are legit some of the best, would welcome them back

Nobody gives a shit about the Pelicans in New Orleans. It's strictly a Saints and LSU town. I don't know why the league doesn't just relocate them already tbh.

Castle really spread the ball around well tonight as the assist total indicates, nice to see only 2 turnovers as well. If he is going to handle the ball that much I hope he can at least stay on the positive side of 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.

It was interesting to see Castle still running point with Fox on the floor and Fox being used as the 2, I suspected as much might happen. Could just be easing Fox back in, his handle was clearly rusty, too. Really excited for Harper to come back when he's ready, he is the 2nd most exciting/intriguing Spur this season to me (Wemby 1st ofc) and what he did this early season before the calf strain only elevated that sentiment. So rare to see a 1 and done ball handler actually have a positive impact and yet that is exactly what he was doing.

Currently, imho it will be like this ....this season

1A) Fox
1B) Wemby

i take all parameters in consideration, including mental fortitude

In my honest opinion, Castle is a better passer and has better vision that Fox. Fox is quicker and better scorer. They'll both initiate, but what Castle is looking to do is different.

Think OKC and Denver lockup the one and two seeds and then a scramble for 3-6 seeds..So far i have seen teams looking worse than expected giving us a chance to qualify straight to POs (Warriors, Clippers, Wolves all so meh after 9-10 games)
Clips are losing by double digits at home against Phoenix. Nephew's already sitting games. Think they're finally done. Just too many old guys in their core and no all time player like Steph Curry to carry them.

Jalen Green re-aggravated his hamstring injury tonight. Tricky injury tbh, glad they were cautious with Fox and hopefully he stays healthy.

I also found that interview peculiar, came off almost as if he's just passing through.
I didn’t get that. He’s trying to fit in obviously and not stir up any drama. I appreciate that. He’s already been on a bad team where he was able to do pretty much whatever he wanted. I think he wanted this change. having a 15+ year career in the NBA is great in and of itself. But never being in a winning situation for 15 years sucks.

Honestly seems pretty inline with what he’s been saying since he arrived. He’s been very differential in all his interviews and saying this is Vic’s team almost like he’s making a point to say that he isn’t the main character. This might come from the talk he had to endure in SAC, where is clearly was the main character but a lot of people held it against him that they dealt away Haliburton.

I hear this mostly as “humble vet” kind of talk rather than “I’m not part of the team” talk. Castle came over during the interview to give post game props as Fox was talking about how this is a team, I like that. I felt this of last years team, but I am feeling it this year as well: these guys all really like each other. It’s not just the friendship crew, they all really embrace each other as teammates (and I’ll add, your man KJ right in the center holding everyone in orbit with the supermassive gravity of that big body)
∫ Fox dFox = Fox^2/2 + C?

Joe Dumars was installed by the league to expedite the Pelicans' move to Seattle or Vegas, I won't be convinced otherwise tbh.
It’s really not that far fetched the way the NBA got Luka to LA.

Won’t surprise me if in a couple years the Pelicans are in Seattle or Vegas. Much easier to justify moving the team when your future is Derek Queen, Jeremiah Fears, and fat broken down Zion Williamson.

So we don't need Fox, and everything is hunky dory with Wemby these last 3 games after he was dropping 35 a game the first 5? He's barely/not even scoring 20 now.
I mean if he gives us 18 boards and 3 blocks a game then it doesn’t really matter if he is scoring 19-21 ppg. We have plenty of scorers. Wemby is basically our only defender still. It’s tiring doing both at an elite level. He’s going to have some off games.

It literally happens to every player ever

He definitely didn't force the trade last season specifically to the Spurs thinking he was going to be the solo star.

Barnes, Vassell, and to a lesser extent Champ playing like they did in this two game window makes a ton of difference for the team when Wemby isnt dominating offensively. Now we need to see if they can take that on the road too.

Gifting the Lakers that W is super annoying, could have been tied with best record in the league :st-lol:
Scheduled loss tbh. No way the league was gonna let the Spurs win that game.

Poor Seattle, it's like Richie Aprile getting out of prison and his only bag waiting for him was a veal parm at Beansie's.
