Still wouldn't shock me if the Mavs end up in Vegas if expansion is off the table tbh.

Now that Fox is back I think we're going to see a difference. Teams have been able to collapse on Wemby. With Fox, they won't be able to anymore.

it hurts the team more when castle has been just as bad missing wide open 3s.This is why wemby will keep getting doubled
and struggle with his offense.Castle gotta make them pay for leaving him open and help keep pressure off wemby.

Interesting note, Fox hadn't played 5-on-5 since his surgery until two weeks ago and hasn't had much time with the regular rotation guys

Some great stuff in this press conference. Fox talks about right off the bat, NOP had Herb picking him up at half court so he told Steph and the rest of the guys there was no reason for him to bring their best defender into the play, so they should stay more aggressive while his gravity pulls Herb away from the ball

Fox also talks about how much gravity Wemby has without the ball and how it opens things up for the good 1-on-1 offensive players on our roster, who are also unselfish players. Also was very complementary of Steph's assists the last two games and feels like it's a sign how the game is really slowing down for Steph

Just love the BBIQ De'Aaron brings to our team. He understands the nuances of everything happening on the court, like having another coach out there. Can't wait to see him continue to mesh with the rest of these guys. This was only his 6th game with Vic and it was pointed out in the press conference that he and Steph didn't start any games together last year

Didn't realize Fox didn't play 5-on-5 up until two weeks ago. Makes his return game even more impressive IMO. Great interview in that video. He said a lot of great stuff. He seems to have a pretty high BBIQ.

Saw this vid before I saw your comment. Glad you brought up his BBIQ tbh; most impressive part of this interview and makes me more hyped for this team going forward. Feels like Fox gets it.

Flagg is literally being put in the worst possible position to succeed right now. Mavs should be looking at what the Spurs did to Sochan and immediately reassess how they're utilizing Flagg tbh.

Not only that, but I'm guessing Mavs fans are still pissed at the Luka trade, and Cooper probably feels pressure that he unjustly has to make up for Nico making the most retarded trade ever. I really didn't want him to go to Dallas cause I really liked his game. I wanted to watch him do well, but I can't bring myself to watch Mavs games.

I’m ashamed to say as a Spurs fan this might be the first time I’ve heard/seen Fox speak for more than 30 seconds. Didn’t realise how Spurs-y he was, even the way he talks and the team first attitude, how well spoken he is etc.

Very impressed.

Yep. He's a very well spoken, very mature young man, a young VET at this stage of his career on this young team really. The fact he kinda forced his way here and we got him for basically no assets was a massive coup. Add in that he only just started to play 5 on 5 it's good stuff.

Would be more than happy if Fox was 1A on offense and Victor could focus on terrorising the league on defense and just get what he's given on the offense end (if he'll be happy with that). We'll see how it plays out.

It's also much better that with Fox being such a great scorer that Castle is suddenly getting double digital assist games. It's looking good that they can all work together

The opposing defense will decide who's 1A on any given night.
Other than maybe a few elite teams, noone will be able to stop both Fox and Wemby. Then it's going to be about which one is the focus and the other one delivering 30+ when needed.

As Fox said in that podcast linked above, neither him nor Wemby ever ran PNR with someone who's the focus of both defenders. It was usually all about gameplanning against them.
But if we have both, it will be really hard to stop them if spacing around them is good enough.

Good, expected W. Maybe they should have been 20+ after 3rd and be able to empty bench saving main guys but on b2b I understand it wasn't easy to push this hard for those young guys.
 
Guys like Fox are crazy. Everything athletically comes so easily to them. It’s gotta make all the processing much easier. You don’t have to worry about the whole running and jumping thing. You can just teleport to your spot without thinking and while that’s happening you get to observe your surroundings in peace.

Just a supernatural talent. Type of guy you want. Even better if he doesn’t have to be a #1 all the time.
 
Derik Queen will no doubt be happy today after hearing that Tim Duncan was watching and texted Antonio Daniels during the game that he was impressed with his play.


Queen's +/- numbers are interesting: his On Court number is -1.7, which makes sense being on a 2-7 team, but his On/Off number is +17.7, by far the best on the team, showing that at least so far the Pelican are substantially better with Queen on the floor.
