Game Thread Spurs (6-2) vs Pelicans (2-6) (Sat 11/08/25) [7:00PM CDT]

Continue to think the decision should have really been between Champ and Vassell, with Champ getting the nod. I would really value Devin's self-creation ability with the bench unit. With that said, I expect the rotations to work out so that Devin becomes the guy who crosses over with bench units and leads them (for now until Harper comes back). We saw this last year quite a bit as well.

I just hope Champ doesn't go down to something like 14 mpg. We saw this last year when he was playing great and then Dev and Sochan returned from injury and Champ lost his minutes and his confidence. Champ's been solid on the boards this year. As I wrote in yesterday's grades, he's actually leading non big in REB% this year, and his DRB% is second on the team to Wemby. Kelly O and Korndog have better overall REB% by virtue of some absurd OREB rates in the small sample of two games. I'm going to be keeping an eye on the rebounding with Champ headed to the bench. There is a pretty huge gulf between Champs REB% and Devin's.
You know, you might be right. Don’t know why I keep thinking Champagnie can play PF when he is abysmal at finishing inside. Him and Waters do look like Vassell’s eventual replacements if/when Vassell gets traded. I documented in yesterday’s game thread where Champagnie was playing the 2 role, further establishing that the coaches see him more as a 2/3 despite his height advantage. I think we’re set with the 2/3 guard/wing pipeline with both of those guys, especially with Castle. Our forward depth just sucks and Unc is just keeping us afloat at that position right now.

The Lord of Knights, Prince Foxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is here!

hehehehehehe

Would be interesting to see our first five today

Wemby
Barnes
Vassell ??
Fox
Castle ??

As scott has repeatedly mentioned in this thread, Vassell is the more natural bench fit. He can be the manu while harper is out.

Wowzers, I read Zion has played just 219 out of 500 games for his career. Worse than I thought! Not surprised the fat bastard is out. A shame because it's good when 'superstars' matchup.

I swear some of these players need to be investigated for statutory theft
Starting with Nephew.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect him back until early-mid December.

Rushing back from calf-strain is a recipe for an achilles injury. No way the Spurs take that kind of risk with their shiny new star in the making.
Yeah, and we have Fox back now.

We can make this game easy. Let's just do that. GSG!
