Game Thread Spurs (6-2) vs Pelicans (2-6) (Sat 11/08/25) [7:00PM CDT]

Personally, I would move Vassell to the bench but I anticipate it's Champ who will be headed to a backup role.

This isn't a knock against Devin, but Champ (and Barnes) are exactly the type of players we need in a lineup with 3 other high USG players (Fox, Castle, Wemby). Devin is just a much better fit with the bench unit, where he can be a main character.

Here's a game where I actually want to see a lot of Bismack (because we're up by a lot in the 4th).

Jeez the Pets might need a few Spurs to fill out their roster. I always worry about people coasting on games like this, but with Fox back I doubt it.

Yep we should be cruising in the 4th. Where do we submit grades for last night's game sir? I've submitted grades before, but can't remember how I got there.

Not relevant today but Harper and Vassell off the bench is a good fit.

You might be on to something here. Steph is also a stout defender so he may be able to tag team some of the PF duties with HB.

For sure. Harper-Vassell-Keldon-PF-Kornet is a nice lineup. I put PF instead of naming Sochan or Kelly because I think you probably interchange them depending on matchup. Sochan more useful if we need a more defensive minded lineup where Jeremy needs to guard a perimeter player, Kelly more useful if you need more coherent offense out of the second unit.

Of course we stagger a lot so its not like this specific lineup would get more than 4-8 minutes of run per game, but I still like that lineup.

GSG should be an easy W.

Very happy they closed vs Houston after choking off the 10 point lead.

Kornet should absolutely play tonight if he can tbh. If all goes well he only plays 10-15 mins while building back his conditioning and getting more in-game chemistry.

PELICANS INJURY REPORT
Jordan Poole (left quad strain) - Out
Yves Missi (illness) - Out
Zion Williamson (left hamstring strain) - Out
Dejounte Murray (right Achilles rupture) - Out
Trey Alexander (G League two-way) - Out
Hunter Dickinson (G League two-way) - Out
I think I said 2 years ago the Pels should fire their entire medical staff. Every year half their team is out with injury. Worst medical staff in the league.

It’s sounding like neither Sochan or Olynk are a lock to play this b2b, so Kornet would be a much more welcome sight than Biyombo. Except in garbage time of course.

Finally able to properly watch the game, caught up with the Lakers shitshow just now.

I kind of think we expect too much, too soon. The guys are obviously playing hard and we're without point guards, even when playing like garbage we're still in games and competing.
As long as there are no blowout losses we'll be fine, we just need to take care of games like this one, where we're the clear favorites and we shouldn't dip back to .500 zone.

Exactly. I feel like we finally have a serviceable bench. We have a lot of crossover players that can play multiple positions depending on matchups etc.

It’s why I repeatedly speak out against off loading players for budget contracts.

We aren't really talking about it, but I'm also very glad to see Poole is out for NOP. That dude is one of those that just seems to have a vendetta against us. Bonzi Wells, Zach Randolph, Jonas Valunciunas, Jordan Poole... all must really hate Puffy Tacos.

Cam Thomas is one more solid game against the Spurs from being on that list, too.

Those Earl Boykin types are really hard to cover when they go off. They don't play within structured systems and can shoot at any time, so very unpredictable.
