Game Thread Spurs (4-0) vs Heat(3-1)(Thu 10/30/25) [7:30PM CDT]

I was wondering who is playing well for them. Completely forgot they got Norman Powell. Hopefully the Spurs can raise it up another notch, play a clean game and beat them. Would be huge for the young guys to get this win IMO.

Was Kessler still on the board when the Spurs drafted Malaki? Also, is Wiseman a free agent? I thought I saw him on a team in the preseason. Did he get cut?
He has just been cut by Indiana

Wemby basically has to stay out of foul trouble or we're fucked. They're going to try to get him in foul trouble early.

Bam vs Barnes is a tough matchup for us. Should be a great test and probably a good game however it ends. After seeing this historic start to the season by Wemby, I see him making a statement against Ware. Turnovers could be the killer for our young Spurs. I still think the Spurs will rise to the occasion and the home crowd will help us get a win.

Knowing Wemby, he will have watched a lot of film on what went wrong in the previous encounters and he will be prepared. I like our chances when Wemby is on the court. The real challenge will be in the 10-12 minutes when Wemby will be resting. On offense, I hope Mitch puts in Dylan and lets him run the show in those minutes. The kid has a knack of getting the right thing done and keeping the flow smooth. Defense during the non-Wemby minutes will be the real challenge. Difficult to expect Biyombo to raise his game at this stage.. he is what he is .. a washed up veteran. But last season he was not entirely useless and thats why a little bit more of application should help us at least keep it close to even in those minutes. The Heat aren't loaded with competent wings as the Raptors were or with shifty guards. Their calling card is execution and thats where an alert veteran can still contribute. Or so I hope.

Gotta go small when Wemby is off the floor. Biyombo doesn’t do anything, so just play Carter Bryant or Barnes at C.

This will be difficult to win without Kornet. I assume Wemby will play a lot of minutes.

Kornet not playing is a big blow. I would rather see a small lineup with Carter Bryant as center than Biyombo logging 15+ minutes.

Feels like this could be our first loss of the season, we are back to a huge drop off in our bigs after Wemby with all the injury. Biyombo was horrific in the last game but let's see

The question was, "Has your team won 5 games in a row in the past 5 years?"

Until I saw this, I didn't particular have a problem with the Spurs possibly losing this game. Sometimes you need a loss to shake off overconfidence and have the players work harder to lock in. To identify flaws early and have more time to correct them. But now I want them to get off this graphic. Show it to Wemby for extra motivation.

As others have said, this is the kind of game Kornet is needed for. I'll be pleasantly surprised if the Spurs come away with a win without him. Wemby it's going to need an uptick in minutes and to stay at a foul trouble to make this happen. If the Spurs wind up having to rely more on shooting...well...we already know all about that.

I predict Wemby is going to outplay Ware, by a lot. He dismantled Lively (probably still remembers that first game his rookie year), and Ware is next.

I am ready to be a witness at the sight of Victor Wembanyama playing basketball.
