Game Thread Spurs (51-18) vs Suns (39-30) (Thu 3/19/2026) [7:00 PM CDT]

Only caught the 2nd half but crowd was lit last night especially after Vic's game winner. Pretty pumped for how it's gonna be in the playoffs given the drought.
I am definitely going to Game 1. The energy is gonna be nuts

for those questioning Wemby holding onto the ball until there were only two seconds left, remember that this is what Mitch called for last year in a game in which the Spurs were down by only 1 with about 14 seconds left. the Spurs didn't start the play until there were about 4 seconds left and then missed what would have been a game winner. apparently, this is what Mitch prefers to do rather than leaving additional time on the clock for the other team to try and win the game on the other end.

Last Two Minute report out...

Phoenix benefited from THREE incorrect calls in the last two minutes, and as we all knew, Fox did not foul Booker on his last second heave: https://official.nba.com/l2m/L2MReport.html?gameId=0022501013

The three incorrect calls:

  • Fleming should have been called for a foul on Wemby's three (Wemby should have been awarded 3 FTs, before Vassell was called for a foul on the rebound
  • Booker should have been called for a travel on a missed 3pt attempt (this has no impact on the game, as the ball went out of bounds on his shot anyway)
  • Green should have been called for a travel on the inbound prior to PHX calling a timeout and eventually us fouling Fleming

my preference between the guys i felt would be there was

1) Fleming
2) Bryant/Coward (was very back and forth between those two)
3) Sorber

i was fine with any of those, but i understand why they chose Bryant over Fleming. with that said, i was very agitated we didnt make a move to grab Fleming when he fell as far as he did. as i've been saying in the prospects thread, guys with freakish wingspans who give effort on defense and have a functional 3pt shot are not guys you should pass up on

this year's version of that in our draft range seems to be Cameron Carr. while im not as high on him, Cenac meets that criteria as well
I wanted Flemming bad. But happy with CB. He can be amazing 3d guy.

Insane ref performance last night.

My final pre draft mock on spurstalk I had the Spurs taking Fleming at 14. Had CB going 10-12 i think. Still have no idea how or why he fell to the second round.

Wemby had this crazy one hand palm down rebound at some point. He is a titan

If I had to guess? I kinda soured on him a bit because when I watched more tape he seemed like he wasn't really making very smart plays, and he was like a JR I think? And you had to really trust that three point shot. Coward and Bryant and to some extend Sorber seemed safer to me. But i was a little shocked he dropped to the second round tbh. I was thinking low twenties maybe.
