Game Thread Spurs (30-13) @ Rockets (25-15) (Tue 1/20/26) [7:00PM CDT]

Spurs should be up 20 if Fox played 2 more minutes and anyone, even Sochan, played Castle’s last 5 min

Yup that was weird too. This team’s brain shuts off at end of qtrs
I find sometimes we chase momentum and get overly excited and end up with a couple poor shots or TOs and things turn around quick the wrong way… sometimes playing a bit more robotic and slow with a lead would help. Making that decision is something we need to improve on.

The robotic thing was what we were spoiled with the Big 3 Spurs.

Dont get me wrong this team is exciting but sometimes boring is more fun.

decent 1st half. still hate Vics minutes and touches, his defense was out of control. Champ is the only reason we're leading this game. Fox good on offense but horrific picking up assignments. Castle was fine, shot wasn't falling but only 2 TOs.

Bench was good overall, no glaring mistakes, making their shots.

Defense overall was poor, leaving shooters, but this is a top-5 team in the West, can't expect to blow em out in the first 1/2 on the road.

Mitch rotation on Vic still ridiculous

Nah. I’m not over here panicking because we’re not up 30 against a tough team on the road at HALFTIME
Nobody said 30 and nobody’s panicking. Everyone’s saying the same thing at how Spurs end quarters and halves poorly consistently this season.

Go on though, NBA fan veteran.

This is gonna sound odd, but I’m kind of glad we stuttered at the end of the half… here’s why:

So far this season when we go on a big run before the half, we seem to come out of halftime, chucking up 3s and lose the lead (last game versus MIN is a great example)

Whereas in big games that have been a little tighter at half, we’ve come out and held it together well in the 3rd (first 2 OKC games come to mind)

It’s about to be 2 hours from scheduled time and second half hasn’t even started :st-lol:

Mitch better pull the equivalent of Win one for the Gipper speech to get these guys ready for the battle ahead in the 2nd half

never paid too much attention but this team seems to be better when it struggles a little and get complacent when the lead is big

Castle needs to stop running point. Also, there seems not a great chance the Spurs win the game if they shoot like this and only have a ten point lead.

Vic's rotation should be the same at the beginning of the season: 8 on 4-5 off, 7-8 on to close the first quarter. Let him play up to 36 min depending on situations in the 2nd half
