Game Thread Spurs (19-7) vs Hawks (15-13) (Thu 12/18/25) [6:30PM CDT]

Is Kevin Love playing much? Does he have anything left in the tank? He kind of wanted to play for the Spurs year ago (before getting to the Cavs). He's a bit up there in age, though, and I'm not sure how much of an upgrade he'd be over Olynyk.
Id welcome him, good demeanor, Spursy

Of all the championship teams and the history of the Spurs to have the fourth best record after 27 is eye opening. I think there’s no doubt that fox signing and Mitch is doing a great job to date. Not to mention, the skills of the maturity of the three bad ass 21 and under dudes.
Yes and no

Our best teams were known to take off around the rodeo road trip and Pop used to love playing tinker man in the first half of the season with ridiculous lineups.

Still a great start but if you look at the standing, the West so dense, it'll be close until the end

I see them as the Rockets of last year tbh, but with higher upside going forward.
I think we are more talented and versatile offensively. Our path to winning a series is probably 3rd seed and 1st round vs Wolves or Suns...We should keep pushing for Home court advantage

He's always been spoon fed.

But I'm more stunned by how fragile he seems mentally, although there were a lot of signs...
This is the key point. He's completely crumbled under the pressure of proving himself and playing for a contract-- quite a revealing experience but some of us knew.

Glad to have the Wemby show back. With the full squad besides him he has more room to operate. Hopefully we have more blowout games in the future

Depending on seeding this team can reach the WCF imo. Same could be said of the Rockets last year, they just ran into their worst possible first round matchup tbh.

As of right now the only teams I can't see the Spurs beating out west in a 7 game series are the Thunder and Nuggets. That said, plenty of season left to go on top of the trade deadline.

East has at least 3 teams that don't look like they'll reach ATL's current Ws even if they don't win another game.
No way they're worse than the 10th seed.
Probably 30-35 wins.
Still, the talk of them being a 'Top 4 seed' or a candidate to pull a Pacers-like run to ECF/F was bit overblown during the offseason. They still look like a play-in caliber team to me and are Jalen Johnson injury away from courting disaster. I wonder if their urgency to go after Giannis or AD picks up a notch if they screw the pooch during this upcoming brutal stretch leading to the deadline..

Looked like he was playing earlier in the season but I honestly haven't looked. Only reason I brought him up is because I happened to catch a Jazz game last month and he looked good in limited minutes. I'll have to look at other potential options when I'm home tbh.
Another option is legit Kyle Kuzma tbh.

Jesus that's a brutal schedule tbh.

Prolly the stretch that forces them to swing a trade for Giannis or AD ,tbh (perfectly timed with deadline). Hopefully they stay put; i need a solid pick next draft even if it's in the 14-16 range

Giannis would require JJ and I can't see them moving him tbh. An AD for Trae swap would benefit both teams but I don't think Atlanta would risk it unless they dominated that stretch of games. Most realistic scenario is ATL standing pat unless something falls in their laps; that Pelicans pick is going to lose value as we go into '26 imo.
