Game Thread Spurs (11-4) @ Suns (10-6) (Sun 11/23/25) [7:00PM CDT]

This team has a long way to go
Gotta learn how to win on the road
3 out of our 4 best players are out and our two most impactful players are out.

We picked up a few good wins but at some point this depleted roster was gonna be exposed.

I don’t feel bad about the loss but I’m ready for our guys to get back.

I sure hope it isn’t gonna be like this all season. Where a player gets 8-10 games in and has to sit two weeks to a month with minor tweaks. Then repeat.

Mr Body is that you?
It’s him and I don’t know why he’s so ashamed and won’t just go ahead and out himself as him. Probably because of the really bad takes about Fox that he seemingly can’t let go.

@bozhemoi / Mr. Body: Just get over it, dude. You were wrong about the Spurs not desiring a player like him. Yet you continue to triple down. This isn’t a fucking hill to die on.

I don't care who anybody is.

But I do know that Fox has been a massive problem so far. And if you don't want to acknowledge it, if you want to point the finger at Sochan or whatever, that's fine.

But the huge problem is our maxed out player is not only a horrible contract, he's not even close to good right now.

And, yes, whoever I am, I was always doubtful about acquiring him because he wanted his max contract above all else. He was never going to be worth it, but this is worse than I feared.

Mr. Body, go ahead and educate us on what is your alternative reality on how this could have played out better for the Spurs if they didn’t have Fox on the roster.

For sure. The bottom line is that the Suns without Grayson and Jalen Green are better than we are without 1, 5 & 2

Jeremy with -17 in 20 minutes, yikes.

He's a better player than Bryant right now, but I wonder if it's worth accelerating Bryant's development by giving him some of the Sochan's minutes. He can probably be a better player than Jeremy by the end of the season.
And it's not like either will get many minutes when everyone is healthy.

You on board with my idea of SRPs for Jay Huff yet?
:st-lol:

Obviously we are quite short handed but this is a game where Fox kinda showed his ass tbh

I know the deck was stacked against him and Phoenix is a very good defensive squad but you’d like to think a max player in his prime can elevate the team.

His endgame counting stats are fine… but not when we are short a few and he needs to go above and beyond. 5 made shots from the field and 3 assists isn’t good enough. And it’s not like he was impactful defensively.

As a team we had 19 turnovers and 17 assists. While that’s a team effort, starts with the point guard

people can hate on dillon brooks but he's proved himself three times over. was a core part of a good grizzlies team. went to houston and was considered overpaid initially but outplayed his deal and his attitude stuck there and houston thrived on defense/physicality with his presence. and now look at phoenix. looked like a franchise dead in the water. lost KD and added Brooks and suddenly they are one of the better defensive teams in the league.

and its not just his defense, for a couple of years now the guy legitimately generates his own looks in the midrange and looks really good doing it

I don't understand why Fox gives up the ball so much going into halfcourt sets. I get it if Castle or Harper is on the floor but right now Fox is the only legit initiator on the team and he needs to be playing that PG role.

I'm deathly afraid of OKC trading for him in a year or two as he's probably the best I have ever seen guarding Wemby. And OKC has the plethora of riches to make it happen without it hurting too much.

Won't matter much if Wemby decides to camp out at the three point line for his offense. If he goes back to playing like he did at the beginning of the season Brooks won't be able to guard him, but if he plays like the Wemby we've seen up until this recent injury the Spurs won't go far enough for it to matter tbh.
