Misc MISC Spurs 2025-26 Season Thread

I look at it this way: it's exactly one third of a season done after tonight's game, hopefully a 21-7 record, exactly .750 winrate. Borderline amazing achievement considering all the injuries and difficult travelling schedule we've had.
OKC double header will be sort of a checkpoint and final boss test for this part of the season.
If we get even one win - great.
If not, it's a sign we need to work harder and get everyone up to speed since we've had so few games with a full roster.

For me the best thing is that we're taking care of business in games we're expected to win.
Warriors are the team with the worst record that beat us and that was with Fox just returning from injury and Curry dominating.

And another advantage we'll undoubtedly have in the playoffs over most teams is that our main guys will play the least minutes. Right now Devin is averaging the most at 32mpg.
Warriors being the only team with less minutes for their main players, Curry is at 31mpg.
SGA is at 33mpg, every other Western playoff team has at least a couple of guys at 34mpg.
Rockets and Lakers have multiple players at 36mpg, that almost always backfires in the playoffs. Or even before that with all the injuries.

hate Kawhi but still smirk when he makes Lebron his bitch ...
Kawhi playing 42 minutes in a December game is wild... supposedly Ty Lue told the team their goal for the rest of the season is to go 35-20. With Kawhi going 42 minutes and Harden going 41 seems like they view that game as a must win for their season.

Whats the line of number of games he playes before inevitably getting injured again? 20?

Gotta cherish the fact that we are 2nd in the West on December 21. It's been a long time since this has happened. Closing out the year strongly would be exceptional. Would love to see us beat OKC twice this week, but, I can settle for one win. Seeing our offense begin to flow is mind-blowing. The defense is coming along and what the staff wants to build our identity upon. Rebounding, size and shooting help would be most welcome in trades or the waiver wire. In the meantime, Sochan is this season's casualty of growth and success. It's impossible not to have that happen. Kudos to KJ and Vassell for not allowing themselves to fall into that abyss.
if we beat them in both games, we'd be in the run for the #1 seed

Mangas couldn't Hangas. Interesting signing. I wondered why they didn't just sign Umude from Day 1. He seemed like the logical guy after DJG.

The Mangas era was short lived, but undefeated!

Another double double for Maxime Raynaud....12 pts 14 rebs

Should have taken him with our SRP :st-bang:

He could be replacement for Korndog next time

nice last few days:

- We handled our business vs Hawks (good win for two reasons)
- Hawks then lost to Bulls
- OKC lost again
- Denver lost their 7th to tie us in loss column
- Clipper beat Lakers
- Warriors beat Suns (increased our cushion from play-in)
- Houston lost to Kings
- We did enough to beat Wiz. Sloppy game but didnt have to play extreme minutes

Third seed is there for the taking, man. Lakers are clearly not as good as their record (only +1.2 net rating) and Rockets' suspect guard play is causing them too many meltdowns and inconsistent results. Just got to seize the opportunity and increase our lead..

the 3 teams with the hardest remaining strengths of schedule based on current win %s are the Thunder, Nuggets, and Spurs

Yeah, but that's portably skewed by them being the 3 best teams in the West record-wise and still having to meet each other multiple times: SAS-OKC (x4), OKC-Denver (x4), Denver-SAS (x3)

Houston still has barely played any B2Bs and they are going to have to add a legit PG to avoid these late collapses. Also, they've been all-around healthy this season outside Eason with Ime going full Thibs on minutes (KD 48mins on B2B WTF).

It is still early in the season, but all I'm saying is the window is wide open to get a high seed in what's going to be our first playoffs appearance this decade.

With Mangas and now Umude, it looks like Spurs are using one of their two way slot as a way to give more money to their gleague players.

It's just crazy how Spurs aren't interested at all in trying to develop marginal prospects with the end of their roster.
