just sounds like an arbitration agreement, which isnt very uncommon? i didnt think that, on its own, is newsworthy
Isn't this, like, illegal? I would imagine you can do that before someone is hired, but if you are changing the terms after the hire, then it would be active dismissal.
No. My company did it like 5 years after I started. It was, however, a right to fire state. I refuse to call it right to work. They also changed the terms so if you’re fired, they don’t have to payout vacation or sick time. One of the reasons I retired when I did. Wasn’t happy with the environment any more, and had a pile of vacay stowed away that I couldn’t afford to risk.Isn't this, like, illegal? Bingo. Not sure if that falls under "right-to-work" which is more union related, or "employment-at-will" which means that either the employee or the employer can end the relationship at any time.No. My company did it like 5 years after I started. not if they're at-will employees. i've defended plenty of employment cases in Cali, which is as employee friendly as they come. now... there are some very specific restrictions to arbitration agreements in CA, but you can definitely make them a condition of ongoing employmentIsn't this, like, illegal? Ever done Wage & Hour claims in CA? What a fantastic Attorney Jobs Program they've created with that one!not if they're at-will employees. i've defended plenty of employment cases in Cali, which is as employee friendly as they come. now... there are some very specific restrictions to arbitration agreements in CA, but you can definitely make them a condition of ongoing employment
unfortunately yes. mandatory attorneys fees often are the driving force of settlement in wage claims. most employment cases ive dealt with have been wrongful termination/retaliation claims, or harrassment type stuff.Ever done Wage & Hour claims in CA? Not employment related, but my favorite case I ever had to settle was a $30k settlement with a whopping $250 going to the plaintiff. Here in CA you can make a specific type of settlement offer which would cut off attorneys fees if they don’t accept and fail to recover more at trial. So if you realize you f’d up on some wages you just make that offer pursuant to section 998 of the civil code and can get it done. Not employment related, but my favorite case I ever had to settle was a $30k settlement with a whopping $250 going to the plaintiff. They're heading for top3 lottery odds.Utah is building a weirdly mutated team. Will be interesting to watch where they are heading. Probably some trades coming up.
I don't think Utah is concerned with the salary cap implications of keeping Markkanen, it's not like there's a parade of all stars lining up to sign with them. I do agree he might not want to over do it, but now that Ainge Jr has taken over, I'm pretty confident he'll be more reasonable. If Lauri has a good start of the season and looks like his former all star self, surely good offers will come his way and may be traded by the deadline.Perhaps Ainge will properly unload Markkanen now that he has a little sizzle about him again thanks to his nice Eurobasket performance. Wouldn't be surprised if he overplays it again and expects a massive haul that doesn't materialize and Lauri's perceived value tapers off again. It is the younger Ainge in charge now, maybe he learned from his dad's mistake.
You think Den, Mil, Lal, Minny, Indy, Cle, Nyk, Det, GSW are near 50 win teams with or without Joker, Giannis, Luka, Ant, Hali, DMitch, Jalen, Cade, Steph. Think Bos is without Tatum? We effectively have 2 guys in the top 100. An injury away from absolute catastrophe
From the little I read, the range of potential time missed sounds huge. Something like 6 weeks to 6 months depending on the severity and if surgery is needed. Tough blow for a talented kid who was already coming back from knee surgery.
It's a fun cocktease for Hou... they'd probably love to pick up NSJ, but they can't. Sucks to be them.I wonder if Houston grabs NSJ.
Tough break for McCain and the 666ers.
