NBA 2025 NBA Offseason thread

I keep seeing rumors on social media about Spurs keeping an eye on Reaves during FA next season...which makes zero sense given our guard situation. Yet I've seen like 3 or 4 different spurs pages I follow post about it in the last couple days

That’s some unfortunate timing for MIA. Do they own their own pick? Tank watch?

2027 is the only pick they don't own.
#1-14 protected in 2027, then unprotected in 2028 if it doesn't convey.
They're in a solid situation other than Riley obviously not being able to bring another star there.

I think the pick that OKC used for Sorber was a Miami pick that was lottery protected, and only conveyed because ATL shit the bed in the play in. If it hadn’t it would have been unprotected in 26.

Riley needs to stop yelling at clouds, tbh. Any potential FA looking at that idiotic diss track press conference where he basically told Jimmy to STFU would have second thoughts.

And Dejounte still isn’t here to mourn the lose of Duke

Tough break for FVV, fortunately for him this happened after his contract was renegotiated, so he's got long term financial security.

This should allow Reed Sheppard to play a much bigger role, we'll see if he can deliver on what many saw pre-draft in him (I liked him at 8 but preferred other options at 4 as I thought he had self creation issues and would face much tougher challenges on defense given his smallish frame). We'll see. Amen will also have the ball in his hands a lot more.

Damn, huge hole for Houston at PG now. Better hope Reed is ready to step up. He looked pretty bad though last season but he didn't get a lot of whole lot of meaningful opportunities. Good news for us though

Idk how upset Rockets fans are gonna be about this.
Iirc, they were getting sick of his inefficient chucking while playing no D.

Houston has kind of a weird roster to begin with, just a bunch of front court players and FVV, Reed and Aaron Holiday as the only backcourt players of any significance. I assume they had planned on running Amen at the 2 anyway, but you'd think this would all but solidify that, with him being a capable ball handler.

Reed/Holiday
Amen/?
KD/DFS
Jabari/Eason
Sengun/Adams/Capela

I assume that's the lineup now? They have great size but can they keep up with teams who have multiple ball handlers (OKC, hopefully us)?

Houston went from contender to science experiment real quick.

Sucks for FVV and the Rockets. This could be an interesting scenario for them. FVV brought a lot of stability to that chaotic team. Pretty much any team is an ACL/MCL/Achilles injury away from becoming a science experiment. I hope the Spurs can start strong and capitalize on the Rockets and likely Clippers being in a bit of disarray.
