Player The Layne Staley Depression-Laden Foxhole of De'Aaron Martez Fox

His floater game is non existent right now, I think as a result of poor decision making and hesitancy once he starts to penetrate. Hope it’s just rust and getting used to the offense. I want him to be super aggressive looking for his shot in the lane

Great game from De'Aaron. I don't know if he's still taking it a little easy physically as he still doesn't look as fast/dynamic to me as I've seen from him before, or if it's just a matter of him not ramping up the aggression level like he mentioned in that above tweet. Maybe he's trying to fit in and play more of a team game, but I think he's at his best when he's super aggressive and attacking.

His free throw rate is by far the lowest of his career right now, granted that’s a small sample of only 5 games. That tells us all we need to know about his aggressiveness so far.

I am good with him easing himself back like this; get his legs feeling good and his jumper locked in. Refs missed like 3 “and 1s” yesterday for him, Mitch needs to start getting a technical foul or 2.

I'm not going to try to argue that Fox isn't being as aggressive as in the past, but the refs are definitely letting him get beat up out there around the hole. I agree, Mitch needs to start lobbying for his guys.

Saw the same when we had Tony playing with Duncan; he just didn't get the whistle other guards got...

Yeah, well, like Scott said, Mitch needs to really jump on the refs for letting stuff like that go. It's unfair that other players get lesser calls. If you say nothing, they'll keep doing it. You need to let your voice be heard, or nothing will change if you just accept it and keep you mouth shut.

it'd be great if Fox can keep shooting threes at around 38%.

Another great game from Fox! Let’s give him his flowers

Fox is rounding back into form. He hadn't played a game since March and it takes a while to get back into the flow of games. That game sealing steal he forced at the end was as good a sign as his 20 pt 2nd half. He'll be back 100% in a few more games.

Fox showing why he's kind of a big deal.
This team now has real talent between Wemby, Fox, Castle, and Harper.
Barnes, Keldon and Kornet are top level role players around them.
If we can get all of them healthy and learn how to play well together....
Fox right now benefits to some degree from the other guys being out.
He gets to just play the same way he played in Sacto, including some hero ball. He's fantastic in that role.
The question remains how well he, Wemby, Castle, and Harper can fit together.
I hope we get an extended look at all of those guys being healthy together fairly soon.

Fox's 3 pt shooting % can be a little misleading, it's not great clearly but when you account for the fact he takes a lot of stepbacks/higher degree of difficulty shots it can be deceiving. A little like Luka and Trae in that regard, teams are terrified to leave them open yet by the numbers they are only 35%. When Fox gets an open look he shoots it smooth and confident and the results have been nice so far.

This is absolutely it. People just like to look at %s and draw conclusions, but there is so much more context required. No team in the right mind (well, except the Spurs) is going to leave Luka, Trae or Fox wide open to take 3s, and that's important. You don't need to be a dead eye sniper to be a floor spacer. You just have to be a threat. I'm not concerned about the spacing with Fox on the floor like some people talk about. Early on I'm also not very concerned about Dylan. Steph's 3 isn't falling but the form looks good so I'm still optimistic there as well.

the thing with Castle is that he seems to hit threes when they matter the most so if teams want to leave him and he continues to do so, then great for the spurs.
