Game Thread Spurs (4-0) vs Heat(3-1)(Thu 10/30/25) [7:30PM CDT]

If we’re going to lose one, I’d rather it be against this team.

Sorry I just posted also a game thread, did not see yours.

Injuries report

Spurs - The Fox (hamstring), the Hornet (ankle), Sochan (wrist), Kelly (heel) and smoke in the Waters (eye) are listed day to day
Heat - Herro is ruled out

Heat is on a 3 W streak averaging 135 points per game, they destroyed Grizz and Hornets shooting and connecting a lot of 3s. Spurs defense will be tested in particular if Heat comes hot from 3s.
Deleted yours, all good.

I talked in OP that 3s defense will be key but our 3s shooting will also be key. From what I've seen Heat is well organized they will plan to contain our guards and Victor penetrations, our 3 pts shooting will be crucial to space the floor.. we need Vassell, Barnes, Champ to connect 3s early on. We may see Victor also firing up much more from 3s

I’m surprised Kornhub is still out. Must be a bad sprain.

What is Sochans timeline?

Kornet coming back would be huge going up against Bam/Ware.

Guessing we’d have heard by now if Fox/Sochan were making their return but who knows.

I really need us to win this one so we can get that 5 game win streak off of our back. I know our schedule has been soft, but this is a good test for us. Ware only plays well against Wemby, and this is a tough matchup for Wemby. Also Bam is really good at guarding Wemby.

If we win this one I think it can be a major confidence builder. This is the cupcake part of our schedule, so we really need to take care of business at this point of the year.

On an unrelated note, get Biyombo off my team. He doesn't rebound, he doesn't block, he has horrible hands. There has to be someone we can grab with second rounders.

Wemby need to show up against Ware. Somehow Wemby has some of his worst games against Ware

Good litmus test for the squad tbh, Heat are by far the best team they've played this season thus far.

Would be pleasantly surprised if we pull this out especially without Kornhub.

Aren’t injury updates usually announced the day of the game? Not sure we’d know yet if anyone is coming back against the Heat or not.

Been watching the Heat on League Pass, and they are surprisingly robust considering their expectations for the season. They move the ball well, they have SEVEN players in double figures this season. They also have four guys grabbing rebounds north of 7 per game. Normal Powell is a stud on both sides of the court.

They're easily the best team we've played all season. I hope we put a ton of pressure on their young guard core to force turnovers, because they're dicing teams up in both half-court and running the floor. Don't sleep in Miami this year -- they're emerging as the surprise team in the East yet again. They're going to play us tough for the full 48 and will test our resolve.

other than our recent b2b, spurs have been ruling playing out the day before games. often times what happens is the injury report will rules players questionable or out, and then the questionable ones are announced day-of. the spurs recent injury reports havent had any "questionable" players, so we havent dealt with that yet

per google: NBA teams must publish injury reports by 5 p.m. local time the day before a game, with the exception of the second game of a back-to-back, where the deadline is 1 p.m. local time on the day of the game.

powell was listed as questionable ahead of yesterday's game, so i doubt he will be outright ruled out on today's report. probably will just be listed as questionable, if he's listed at all, and then we'd get a final answer tomorrow. im more concerned about our own report. are we going to snap rule Kornet out again? will we get a pleasant surprise with sochan/fox/olynyk/waters?

Spurs need to limit their turnovers against MIA. MIA leads the league in fast break PPG right now at 26.3 (Second place? SA at 21.8).

Also, MIA is 2nd in league in paint PPG at 58 (fast breaks contributing to that). Will be interesting to see how Wemby (and hopefully Korn dawg) throws a wrench in that.

The Heat have been a major surprise this young season, totally revamped offense finally. Spurs have also played awful against the Heat in recent history (not to mention Ware turning into Shaq for some reason when he plays Wemby). Gonna be a great test for the Spurs, I hope our guys get up for this one.
