Game Thread Spurs (31-15) @ Rockets (27-16) (Wed 1/28/26) [8:30PM CDT]

As fun as that was, Houston’s not going 3/22 in a quarter again. Credit the defense for making it a nightmare and destroying their rhythm, but they’re gonna need to play a full 48 minutes next time
agree but that Defensive stretch for the Spurs was suffocating. this is Houstons problem sll season though. they lack consistent 3rd option to take pressure off of KD and Sengun. hope mitch learns lessons when playing this team. sheppard should never be a factor if we consistently attack him on offense. he was such a liability for them

There is too much talent on this team, Robz. It will take epic level incompetence to mess things up, tbh . Even with obvious holes and inexperience, easily the best roster since 2017.

Yeah I remember when all the projections had the Spurs winning 65 with this incredibly talent laden team. Sad that Mitch is not going to get us to that very easy mark.

Great unexpected win. Was it a little surprising that Carter Bryant did not play to inject some energy, when the Spurs seemed so lethargic on defense in the first half? Team energy was great in the second half.

The way i see it: Spurs are the more talented team; Houston are little more seasoned than us.

It was a direct inverse of the game last week when we scored 12 in the fourth (they scored 13 today).

Both teams probably feel like they left 2-0 on the table. I think these teams are pretty closely matched.
Spurs 100% ran out of gas last time. With 2 days of rest, the opposite happened. They definitely made some defensive adjustments but I think for the most part if they had legs the first time around they win.

Man what a good fucking win. Wemby masterclass in the clutch. Castle ace defense. Harper with the clutch buckets too. Beating Sleazy Udoka & Co on their turf, AND keeping the 2nd Seed in the win......!!!!!!!!

The team needed it badly
i would trade mitch for sleazy udoka in a heartbeat

Amen Thompson is a truly tragic shooter. Sochan levels of bad. He's not surviving a playoff series as lead ball handler tbh, Rockettes should sell high on him while they can
Amen does have a decent 15 foot pull up. If Jeremy could have at least developed that, it might have been a different story. Luckily it looks like Castle ha this in his bag as well at least.

God Steph's a monster defensively. Was making life hell for Durant and Sengun. I swear it's like watching Alvin Roberston out there just pissing the other team off when they can't move him, can't get a good shot off on him, can't throw a pass in his vicinity, etc.

It’s going to sound ridiculous when you have Wemby on your team but there’s a chance he could compete for a Defensive Player of the Year award at some point in his career.

Outside of maybe the lakers, don’t feel confident against any team in the top 8 come playoff time but next year we should definitely win our first series at least

I still can't believe how much they disrespected Amen's jumper. He was so wide open, even I could've made those shots.
yeah it was def a gimmicky defensive performance, but it was very fun to watch

Hilarious because he has a team that is arguably more talented and is DEFINITELY more experienced and has a worse record. I think he's a good coach but I don't know that he's obviously better than Mitch. I promise you there are stupid Rocket fans who want him fired too. There are always stuipd fans who want to blame the coach.

Thompson will be fine as long as he doesn’t have to play against Wemby. Victor’s such an unmatched defensive presence that it’s not fair

Hard to trade that defense tbh. He's their Castle, just gotta live with the bad.
It's the kind of cutthroat decisions that make great franchises, tbh, his defensive prowess is the selling point. We've seen time and again how little that's worth when you can be completely ignored as a shooter, he got killed today and the Spurs didn't even exploit it that much IMO

Great win.

Props to Wemby, Castle and Harper for showing out - and to Mitch with the defensive adjustment of going small on Sengun (and keeping Harper on the floor).

Gameball to Keldon.

He changed the whole game with his physicality and offensive competence around the rim - got Sengun shook with a dose of his own medicine while he was at it. He is the heart and soul of this team. Can’t believe the winning player he’s turned into.

Give The Dog, Big-Body, his flowers.
:st-flag:

id put Spurs talent > than rockets. but rockets also lack a true PG with van fleet out.

was so palpable IRL too. leaving him that open really messed with him beautiful to see
