Game Thread Spurs (26-11) @ Celtics (23-13) (Sat 1/10/26) [7PM CST]

Jeremy brought the pink hair back. Hopefully this is a sign that he's getting his confidence back. Otherwise he's just gonna look like an asshole if he goes back to stinking it up tbh.

I don't think so, it's just that he's not questionable to play anymore.
I don't really see the point of holding him out, it's a knee sprain, he's either good to go or he isn't.
So... this is of course all speculation and we'll find out tomorrow... but here is looking at historical precedent to try and guess at what the team will do with Wemby.

Coming back after the calf straight, he was on minutes restriction and played in 21 minutes or less for his first 4 games back except for the Cup Final when he played 25 min. The Christmas B2B v OKC he had his minutes ramp up, but for all these games off the bench other than the first OKC game and the Cup Final were all games where Wemby didn't need to play any more minutes as they were all double digit wins.

Wemby off the bench:

12/13 @ OKC, 20:39, win by 2
12/16 v NYK cup final, 24:54, lose by 11
12/18 v WAS, 17:18, win by 25
12/19 @ ATL, 21:28, win by 28
12/21 @ WAS, 21:30, win by 11
12/23 v OKC, 23:08, win by 20
12/25 @ OKC, 25:48, win by 15

It's hard to know how much the team would have been comfortable playing Wemby in these games in the ramp up had they been close games, but it's worth noting that the two games before he went back to the starting lineup he played 23 and 26 minutes. In the last two games, he's played 21 and 26 minutes. It's possible 26 minutes is the trigger that he can start again...

With that said, in the 3 games after he went back to the starting lineup... was he still on minutes restriction?

12/27 v UTA, 27:42, lose by 13
12/29 v CLE, 27:19, lose by 12
12/31 v NYK, 23:43, win by 2 - Wemby grabs rebound and gets hurt at 10:43, exits game at 10:32 left. I'm going to assume Wemby would have exited somewhere around the 9 minute to 7 minute mark and returned at the 5 minute mark. So let's say we would have finished around 30 minutes.

Would he have played closer or over 30 in those first two games if they were closer? Did he have a 30 minute restriction that we don't know about?

I am hoping he is back to starting and more like a 30 minute limit in these games.

Celtics have blown a pretty big lead and it's now a 5 point game in the 4th against TOR. Forcing their guys to log some extra minutes.

Sam Hauser is going beast mode for BOS though.

interesting he seems to suck the most close to the FT line, which is usually a good spot for player. He needs more shots along the baseline, I have seen him been pretty successul there, surprised that he doesn't shoot more from there
to the untrained eye it looks like our 7'7 monster is way better closer to the basket ... weird

Let's hope that the losses by the Rockets and Nuggets tonight doesn't emboldened Mitch to play Wemby 19 mins off the bench, while tossing some of the next few games. Let's pounce and try to create some distance in the standings.

2 days of rest while Celtics on B2B with their starters playing heavy minutes (36-38)..Zero excuses to not get a win here with the trickier match up (Wolves) coming on the following night
