Game Thread Spurs (25-10) @ Grizzlies (15-20) (Tue 01/06/2026) [7:00 PM CST]

was really hoping the 3 wins over okc would catapult this team and take the next level

instead, it went completely the opposite way :lol

im just glad Victor is back playing, stay healthy, keep grinding and lets see how this team performs in the playoffs

Seems like they just hang a beat OKC 3x banner and decided to call it a season. :st-lol:

The local media here in San Antonio needs to be reaming the hell out of Glitch Johnson for taking games away from his team like this.
Are you new here? Spurs local media never says anything bad about the team unless it comes from the coach's mouth. They hardly even ask critical questions.

Good thing we had that 4 minutes with Carter Bryant. That helped.
I want CB to succeed and like that he's getting real minutes, but it's getting harder and harder to justify.

His defense is passable which is great, but he offers nothing on offense meaning that we are basically playing 4v5 on that side of the floor. Obviously it's better to have 5 threats on the floor for optimal spacing, now anybody can help off of Bryant because they know he is probably going to just keep the ball moving and if he does shoot, it's usually a win for them.

Get him some time in Austin to get minutes and hopefully build some confidence offensively.

Spurs have been in a slump since beating OKC twice. Hopefully they eventually figure it out and get out of the slump.

Also, I hate this new mantra of "trying to catch the defense off guard" instead of calling a timeout and drawing up an offensive play. What's the point if the result is "dribble into contested midrange jumper" which is an option that is available 100% of the time.

I feel like in the Big 3 days, Pop always called timeout in those situations but once we moved into DeRozan and the youth movement something changed, and now Mitch seems to be following suit.

Nah I think it worked well with a veteran team and Pop would let them do it a lot. Case in point:

But this ain't a grizzled and battle tested team like that one was. Besides that, should have called the timeout to get Wemby in for a possession.
