Game Thread Spurs (25-10) @ Grizzlies (15-20) (Tue 01/06/2026) [7:00 PM CST]

HAHAHA, the overreactions are simply incredible.
We have the 3rd best record in the NBA after this loss

I still have high hopes for the team, but this is going to get worse before it gets better. Look at the next 4 opponents. Lakers, Boston, Minnesota and OKC. We could easily lose 7 in a row. They’ve got a stick together, make some adjustments, and try not to completely lose their confidence because some bumpy times are coming.

He’s on fire, carrying the team, and guess what he’s supposed to be the franchise player. I can’t remember a single time in the career of Tim Duncan, even if he was coming back from something when he had it going Pop told him to sit down in the last 3 minutes of the fucking game.
I know its ridiculous, annoying and costing games. If he's hurt, he's hurt and shouldn't play no question. But if you're cleared to play let him play.

Once again we let teams shot 37% from 3pt shot you can not tell me the team does not need to make trades around the margins need to add some more 3pt shooting to the roster
It’s not like we got beat by an offensive onslaught. They shot 37% from 3, but only 40% overall and only scored 106.

The problem is we shot 37% overall. Not gonna win a lot of games like that.

Your issue is that you're looking at the record and not our level of play against sub-.500 teams.
Even when we won games against bad teams, we were mostly bailed out by them being terrible and Fox looking like an MVP candidate.
Since he came back down to his usual 3pt shooting level, our offense has been awful.

The less said about the defense and rebounding, the better.
Was said earlier in the thread, but its looking like the early third of the season was a mirage tbh. This team has too many fatal flaws that can be exposed by even the worst teams. With the schedule getting more brutal it isn't inconceivable this team falls into the play-in and misses the postseason entirely.

Fuck this. Let him max out. He just turned 22 years old. He says he’s fine and not hurt.
Yeah I don't get it either. I thought he looked sturdy out there right before the big three. Could've easily done the last stretch even factoring tomorrows demands

Gotta agree… it might be time to reset out expectations to gunning for that 6 seed and considering that a successful season.

Or… Brian needs to make some moves and hope they work. Rarely to big shake-ups work mid-season though.

Kornet holds some ncaa 3 point shooting record for 7 footers. Maybe it’s time for him to shoot a couple and see if he still has it.
Shot a three tonight and it looked as bad as anyone else's not named Barnes.

You beat OKC 3 times that’s no mirage. I agree some tough times are ahead but they can dig out of it. They definitely can dig out of it.

The problem is they had a chance to win and just flat out did a dumbass thing, despite how shitcan their effort was they were down 1 with 15 seconds and 2 timeouts, and Fox did what everyone in the arena knew he was going to do instead of calling a Timeout. Bad shooting is one thing, it happens, this was just dumbassery on the Coaching end of things

No arguments from me!

I won't go as far, but it's obvious our defensive setup is bad and is the biggest issue.
One open 3pt after another and a lot of offensive rebounds by players that don't even have a size advantage.

Offensive issues start with Castle having a free reign as if he was on a tanking team. Shooting struggles for role players come and go, but we can't execute shit with Castle running sets.

He has 26 turnovers over the past 7 games.
That's way more detrimental to the team than his shooting struggles.

This. Lapses will happen but the four teams our guys lost to are not good (and at LEAST as injured to boot). And the Knicks was an L too if not for Champ’s magic shooting night. It may not be time for a complete meltdown, but a very healthy concern and asking honest questions is totally valid.

It’s also really frustrating that there was a legit chance to build some more on some bad teams. The schedule is only ramping up from here. I have a hard time believing this version of the Spurs is going to stand a chance against the Lakers, Wolves, or OKC this time:

I know he wasn’t touted as a knockdown, but I remember the report on him was that he was at least capable of draining a few

He's a better FT shooter than our guards, he's still capable of shooting from deep.

And I'd say he's our most funadmentally sound player. The only one who doesn't make negative IQ decisions.
