Game Thread Spurs (25-10) @ Grizzlies (15-20) (Tue 01/06/2026) [7:00 PM CST]

That’s why I want to trade castle, dude is dumb as rocks and cant shoot. Should trade him for markkennen or however you spell his name
He’s just too overconfident which makes him think he can do more beyond his skill set and it’s becoming uglier by the second

Looking at the schedule, we might lose 7 straight potentially here. Hopefully we take some major licks, slowly figure some things out and rebound after that. Feels like the worst is yet to come.

tbh if Mitch said to "strictly" limit Vic to 20mins....then couldn't he plans the mins accordingly and ensure that Vic finishes in Clutch Time?

He previously made Vic missed the entire 1st Quarter is for this purpose right? So that Vic can meet the min restriction limit and also played in the clutch time.

:st-lol: Mitch

I don't mind the minutes restriction coming off an injury and Wemby looked tired at the bench after hitting that three with 3:45 left. But FFS in a one point game with 12 seconds left WTF not getting your best player on the floor after he has just had a nice rest? He should have been put in the last minute when shit was falling apart again.

Problem is you trade for him and he forgets how to shoot/rebound when he joins this team, then he's completely useless.

Castle has been absolutely killing us since Christmas tbh
I'll say that Mitch has been killing us because he's allowing Castle to kill us.

Fox is in a slump and you have to let him play through it because he's proven time and time again he can get it done.
Castle is a sophmore with no jumpshot and questionable ball security who isn't in a slump, but got figured out and we're not sure if we can adapt.
To let him have free reign and put us into horrible situations every single game is just bad coaching. We're not tanking anymore, we need to win games.

I'll say it again: if a few players are struggling, it's on them.
If the entire team looks bad, then the coaching staff is doing something wrong.
Whether it be gameplan or mental side of things, something is wrong and nothing is working.

We can only hope it's the gameplan side of things because the sets we've been running and the defense we've been playing are just atrocious and it's not down to bad execution.
We're trying shit that just can't work.

So how does this stupid minute restriction shit work? The doc says you can only play x amount of minutes and thats it? So sick of this pampering shit. This game is won if Vic plays even a couple more minutes. We know Vics real competitive and hates losing and is eventually going to get frustrated with all the pampering and forcing to sit games and play less minutes.
I saw him getting visibly frustrated on the bench when Landale threw in that alley-oop less than 2 minutes to go.
If I were him I'd have the dumbass coach fired if this persists. Not the type of player behavior or attitude I generally prefer but fuck all that at this point.

Trading him is definitely not in the plan so people need to get that out of their heads. And I wouldn’t trade him . I love his upside. This is cliff jumping shit.

and he doesn't even have to do anything he can just stand there and be a decoy out of a timeout

Can't blame Sochan for being in the game and missing the 3. He looked physically sick afterward. This loss is on Mitch and perhaps Fox. They knew he wouldn't pass the ball. Easily blocked with 4 defenders all over him. So we are up 4 and Mitch thinks benching Wemby is the move with 90 seconds left?

The game won’t let you sub him back in. You just keep pushing X but nothing happens. Stupid developers.
This is actually a real thing in 2k. I only play the Spurs and it only happens when I try subbing Vic out for some reason. Takes 4 to 5 tries sometimes.

It’s insanity. I’m old enough to remember a time when somebody was either ready to go or they weren’t ready to go. It wasn’t 20 minutes a night for two weeks followed by 25 minutes a night for another two weeks or whatever bullshit. It drives you out of your skull.

If this is who the Spurs are, whatever. Maybe we need to adjust our expectations and they’re basically last season’s team without an ancient legend. They have their moments but overall, unimpressive, leaving us to dream of what could be with a complete roster.

The sooner I know for sure, the sooner I can stop getting excited thinking maybe these guys have accelerated into contention and prepare myself for a loss, regardless of who they’re playing

He should’ve came in during that 1:40 timeout when we were up 4. We easily take this home and nobody with more than 2 brain cells can claim that could’ve been dangerous for injury management lol

Wemby didn't even look too gassed. Hit some turn around jumpers and a big three. Classic situation pulling starter(s) too soon and the other team steals it. It's like fumbling on the goal line. Do all the effort and take all the wear and tear just to cough it up right at the payout. Mitch needs to let things ride sometimes but he plays the cards so close to his chest because as a young coach he doesn't have the insulation of prestige like vet coaches would.
