Game Thread Spurs (43-16) @ Knicks (38-22) (Sun 03/01/26) [12:00 PM CST]

The Philly game and if/how they bounce back will be more telling than this one tbh.

This brutal stretch in March is gonna be pretty damn important for getting ready for the playoffs

Well that was a shit game, but not too surprising given how tough a matchup the Knicks are with their combination of shooting and rebounding. Thank god the Spurs have a 5.5 game lead on them in case this ends up a Finals matchup, as I'd hate to not have homecourt in a series against them.

If we're lucky enough to see them in the Finals, we gotta go with more French Vanilla lineups considering how they absolutely murder us on the boards tbh.

Well, do we come out angry against Philadelphia or do we come out mentally a little bit deflated against Philadelphia off this blowout?
I’m confident they’ll come ready but need to lock down Maxie!!!! Our offensive output needs to be better and for goodness sake, limit the TOs and ORebs

Knicks just match up really well against us tbh.

Strong wings that can bother our guards. A shooting big that can draw Wemby out and force janky assignments like him on Hart. Great offensive rebounding and Brunson has always been a Spur killer.

I'd like our chances against any team coming out of the East except for them tbh.

Putting Castle on KAT Instead of Brunson was a mistake.
Big opposing teams always destroy the Spurs on the boards or in the post. Castle is the strongest guy the Spurs have in a guard heavy lineup to match up with KAT to perhaps limit the damage. It's the one glaring weakness that has not been properly addressed. And it won't change until the front office changes tack by drafting some big wings or forwards.

Fuck early Sunday games on ABC. I'm not even ready to watch basketball that early in the day, so there's nothing exciting about it. And we usually lose those.

Welp, it just wasn’t the spurs day….

On the positive side, we wont see the knicks again this year -

But i think if the spurs met the knicks in the finals, the spurs would beat them.

On to another win streak…

champ and vassell coming down to earth a little bit, thats where you need fox and keldon etc... to pick up the slack but got nothing from them

probably the game to lose, win streak getting too much attention, national media giving the spurs too much love 😆

stay under the radar, stay as the 2 seed and finish the season healthy is the goal from here on out

IDK seems like the shooters would pick the Spurs apart even worse then. I would pull Barnes and give that slot in the rotation to Carter Bryant so at least the team has some defensive aptitude out there. Barnes shitty defense and two turnovers were the catalyst of that horrible 22-2 run.

Why i wanted them to trade for Aldama of Memphis but it is what it is they will need to make some roster tweaks this summer

Felt like they got every bounce and were making every big shot. I think it's a good thing we got an ego check before the playoffs tbh

The Knicks just out hustled the Spurs to lose ball, rebounds and ran their offense. The Spurs were jacking up bad shots and then missed the wide open ones they tried to ISO hero ball to often it was a terrible day all around.

The Knicks earned it the Spurs got kicked into next week with bad play. I knew a lose was coming but I was hoping it was not the Knicks

They basically need to clone Boris Diaw, make him the Duncan Idaho for the Spurs until the end of time.

This team leads the NBA in defensive rebounding percentage, but I'd like to see the number against big, physical teams like the Nuggets, Rockets, Timberwolves and Knicks.

The lack of a legit PF becomes glaring, especially when Wembanyama "guarding" the worst opposition shooter is a perimeter player. Castle guarding overpowering, All-Star caliber bigs is not a viable strategy for anything more than a changeup, let alone series.

One concerning aspect of this season so far is our complete inability to capitalize on out of timeout plays. Not sure if there are stats for this but I’d bet we are among the worst in this. Hard to say if it’s coaching, the plays themselves, bad execution due to youth or what. This was always a staple of Pop’s teams. Much improvement is needed.

Knicks had great hustle and were knocking down shots. This loss stings
Sucked to just get shut down on offense for much of the game.. I can't believe Harper, Fox and Castle were all bad.. Wemby's numbers look fine until you get to the TO's. But it is just 1 game. Keep it moving..
