Game Thread Spurs (26-11) @ Celtics (23-13) (Sat 1/10/26) [7PM CST]

When I lived in MA, I went to the game in 2020 before Covid hit. Demar had 31 and Lonnie had 18 off the bench in 19 minutes and we stomped them.

I also went to the game in 2021 during Covid. Had seats on the baseline that we as close as they let you sit in a 25% full stadium. My wife and I brought a sign that said "Send Whataburger" hoping the local SA broadcast would catch us, don't know if they did but none of our SA friends said anything so I assume not. Robert Williams was still on the Celtics then, and the Aggie alum pointed at us and said "hell yeah" before the game :st-lol:. We lost that one in OT, with Tatum going for 60 and it was the largest comeback in Celtics history, we were up by 29 at halftime.

Now that I think of it, I think we've lost every game I've been to since:

Nov 3, 2021 v Mavericks - L 108-109
Oct 20, 2023 @ Clippers - L 83-123 (big yikes)
Dec 16, 2025 v Knicks in Cup final - L 113 124

I have an opportunity to sit courtside at the April 4 game @ DEN... maybe I'll check the standings before I decide to go.

I remember that meltdown, rough times.

Derrick isn't looking great as the second option. His defense is as elite as ever, but he's at 40/33/87 shooting splits, let's hope Fox can contain him since Castle will undoubtedly be on Brown.

Celtics will be in game 2 of a back to back. I know we got a B2B this weekend but that might help for this game..
Yes, wrote about it in that other topic.
Celtics on a b2b and Minnesota is playing in Cleveland tomorrow, so both teams will be on a b2b on Sunday.
We really need to win at least one of these two games. Winning both would mean we're back on the right track.

Any time you can sit courtside you should go, time to break your record. Too bad it's against a great team! Meaning I hope we win!

- Despite their surprising home loss to Denver's backup a couple days ago, the Celtics are one of the hottest teams in the league right now, winning 8 of their last 10.

- Jaylen Brown is a top-3 MVP candidate at the moment and is currently averaging the most PPG in Celtics history at 30 ppg.

- The Celtics are one of the best 3-Point shooting teams in the league, shooting 37% from beyond the arc as a unit, and are tied with the Warriors for the most 3-Point Attempts per game at 43.

- They're #1 in 3-Pointers made per game at 16, #2 in the NBA in Offensive Rating, and #3 in Net Rating.

Needless to say, this will be a tough one on the road against the current #2-Seed in the East. If our shooting woes continue, it could be a long night tbh. Hopefully our guys come ready to play.:st-flag:

Mazzula is my CotY tbh. No Tatum and a bunch of nobodies at C after losing Kornet/Horford and they've got a good chance of ending up the 1 seed in the East.
Some reports are saying Tatum will be back in March.
If Celtics can get Zubac (supposedly interested) at the deadline and Tatum returns, they'll be in the finals, tbh.

Bickerstaff is still the betting favorite, with Mitch sitting at #2 (lol). Mazulla is hot on their heels though. Could easily see him winning it if the Celtics stay hot and finish as a top-2 Seed in the East. If they end up winning the East, he's definitely taking it home imo.

really need a W here. Celtics been on a roll, but their bench is pretty slim. We have to shoot better than 16% from 3 though.

Pritchard going for 40+ tomorrow with 10 (mostly wide open) three pointers tbh

Upcoming stretch of 3 games in 4 nights with the Celtics, Wolves, and Thunder. Gonna be a tough one.

Hopefully some of the guys decide to wake up. They've been in a passive vacation for the past couple of weeks.

2-1 would be a massive success tbh. Boston definitely the most winnable.

they havent had Tatum, and they parted ways with Porzingis, Horford, Kornet, and Jrue Holiday

I'm bullish on Tatum still being an elite player even after that injury but just not 10 months removed. He will need some time to get back into form. KD called it a 2 year injury for that reason.

If Vic is back in the SL (Mitch quit acting "cute" and just play a normal fucking rotation) and this min restriction BS is at least upped to 32, Spurs win a close one.

If not, Celts by 40
gon be 25 minutes max. Should still start him though.
