Game Thread Spurs (26-11) @ Celtics (23-13) (Sat 1/10/26) [7PM CST]

I feel someone will overpay for him (or at least more than spurs want to pay). We’ll see.
Hence why you extend him this offseason while he has one more year left on his deal. Come in with the KJ extension and try to lock him in tbh.

Castle got scored on virtually every time he was on brown outside the open court, when he in fact, should attack him. We won the game by putting taller guys on him. Once we moved steph away from brown, he scored only a layup the rest of the game. Granted, a lot of it is coincidence, but a lot of it is having to adjust for the different length. Castle should be guarding the fastest player, because fox.... can't. Yes i know that fox is very fast, but he's not fast on D, not at all.
Fox stayed with White multiple times on drives.
Cross-matching causes us all kinds of issues since we're a poor rebounding team.
Not to mention that Champ isn't a great on-ball defender and Barnes is completely uselss on that end.

If anything, this game has shown that getting a legit PF/C and just playing double bigs might just be the way to go.

I'll call out my hero but Castle needs to settle back into his game and chill his mindset because there is this careless aggression in his game recently that leads to things unraveling for him on TOVs or bad drives and getting stuffed. Just not his usually cerebral processing and selective decision making I feel like he has shown the flashes of.

Said that in the trade thread the other day tbh. Instead of looking for PFs the team should just look at acquiring another quality big and play Wemby more at PF.

Love seeing the Spurs gut out some wins when they're playing relatively badly. Stay healthy, stay in the top of the standings, peak at the right time.

Fuck those losses to Utah, Portland and Memphis.
That’s a hallmark of young teams. The flip side of the coin is beating OKC 3 times, and going into Boston and beating a team on an. 8-2 heater on their own floor.

Victor had a recent post game quote that was something like “We can playwith anyone, and we do play with everyone.” Basically a fancy way of saying we tend to play to the level of the competition. I’d rather go through these growing pains sitting at 2nd in the West than at the bottom half. The kvetching in this thread is just nauseating. We just won a big game that opened up a crack more distance to the teams behind us. Pour one out, bitches.

Brown is 1 inch taller than Castle, if that.
Why would he be guarding the fastest players when we have Fox?

We did a great job on Brown, he was inefficent and had 5 turnovers.

Castle's defense has been good, it's that his offense is garbage.
Can't expect to hold all-NBA players to single digits. If you hold them to less than their average ppg, it's good enough.
Castles direct on ball defense is usually very good. But off ball he is close to a disaster similar to Barnes and Fox. He gets lost so easily in space off simple screens/switches and his rotations are slow and he gets caught ball watching a lot.

Man I bought 32GB of RAM so I could have five windows with 17 tabs open in each. OK not really, I bought 32GB of RAM because the The Last of Us PC port was trash at launch and would overrun my 16GB even when I had nothing else open. :st-lol:
Damn dude I didn’t know you were a billionaire.

Tbh, our best defense on Brown all night was leaving him wide open… seems like those are the only shots he missed other than Wemby stuffing his shit :st-lol:

Ugly fucking win, but good fucking win all the better. To overcome such a shooting deficiency, and play like ass through it but come out with a win against a good team, that's great.

Spurs are really building something there - clearly so far away from their ceiling, but already so powerful... Exciting!

Thanks, @ambchang for the original graphic. Was Trolling Boston relatives today with this. They've been a bit difficult the last few years, especially after the D White trade and title. Go, Spurs, Go!
