Game Thread Spurs (18-7) vs Knicks (18-7) (Tue 12/16/25) [7:30PM CDT]

Can't care more than me, I don't want to be hearing shit from a Knicks fan for the rest of the season. :st-lol:
You didn’t care about the cup like a week ago! You can’t fool me, LeBowen!

This isn't about the cup, this is about my basketball integrity being on the line. :st-lol:

Also, just saw on reddit that even though the game and the stats don't count for the regular season, playing in it still counts for 65 games requirement.
Meaning Wemby can miss 6 more games and still be eligible for awards.

I feel ya! One of my employees is a huge Kings fan, but is secondarily a Knicks fan (he used to live in NY) so he’s been talking smack.

He wanted me to place a bet on the Spurs for myself and a bet on the Knicks for him, but I told him no way I was violating my cardinal rule: I do not bet real money for or against the Spurs in a single game setting.

Might see what season long props are available for our guys tho.

Some people are born places and they like their hometown team. Aren’t you German or something? Doesn’t really seem like you have standing to knock anyone’s choice of team.

I respect Kings fans. There is no such thing as a bandwagon Kings fan. They do it for the love of the team.

I tolerate that the Spurs have a lot of bandwagon fans with no connection to San Antonio or the team.

Nah I‘m not German. If he‘s born there it makes sense. Then again I know a lot of New Yorkers who don’t like the Knicks at all.

its probably better if they lose. it doesnt count in the standings so no harm. would serve as a helpful reality check that beating okc yesterday doesnt mean you can take it easy tomorrow, every game is hard. the media narrative around them winning is nice, but maybe dont let them get too full of themselves after some nice december wins. remember how heavy they were celebrating after winning against miami and proceeded to get blown out by phoenix?

I understand from where you are coming from but this team seems to learn from mistakes, Victor replied to a journalist if they would celebrate a lot a potential win and Victor replied they will celebrate but knowing this title would mean nothing and they have greater goals to achieve. So I don't think there is risk of a letdown ala phoenix, besides season is young and Spurs will have their hands full of reality check starting with 2 games against OKC

Wonder about Wemby's minutes and if he'll play in the first quarter. Reckon it could be 14-16 in the second half, 5-7 in the first.

Brunson is going to get his unfortunately. He's hoopin' right now and had his career-high 61 Point performance against the Spurs a couple years ago, lest we forget (albeit on 47 shot attempts). Our guys will have their hands full with him though. It's really important we stay out of foul trouble on these guys. Brunson is arguably the biggest flopper/foul-baiter in the NBA. He's going to do everything in his power to get Castle, Fox, Harper, etc. in foul trouble with his theatrics. It's imperative that we stay down on all of his pump fakes. He's also notorious for deceiving the officials by cocking his head back at even the most minimal contact to try to get to the charity stripe. It's incredibly fucking annoying tbh. Hopefully we get a clean whistle from the officials tonight.

I think this would be a good game to try out Fox, Castle, and Harper at the same time on the court, that way we can put pressure on Brunson defensively.

I'm thinking in a neutral environment we might see less bs calls sending Brunson to the line. Seems like SGA only had that work a couple times last game.

The good news is Brunson is dog-shit defensively (KAT too). Fox and Harper need to attack them relentlessly tonight. Really put pressure on the rim consistently. That will force their bigs to converge on those guys once they get into the painted area. Then it's up to our shooters to knock down their looks. Need Barnes, Champ, Vassell, etc. to be ready to knock down their looks tonight.

good. just think about how much they can improve by learning from a mistake today! its like the zenkai boost in dragonball z. get stronger every time you come near death

IMO the Coffee Hour is the only Spurs pod worth listening to. Petrini is very good and the other dudes on the show are knowledgeable but still bring some good humor
I'll have to check this out. Maybe you mentioned it before a while ago, but I forgot to look into it.

Would it be better to start Vic and play him a few minutes (even if it's just 3-4) as I saw someone bring up that last game he would have gotten warmed up, then probably sat for 25 actual minutes before coming out there, so he would have cooled down a bit by then. I assume his calf is 100% now, so probably no issue with sitting to start the game. What do you guys think? Irrelevant, or something to look at?

if Wemby's minutes restricton goes up to 25 minutes total, he should start.

1. Q 6 min
2. Q 6 min
3. Q 6 min
4. Q 7-8 min
These minutes should be the last minutes of every qtr - so come off the bench and at the 6 minute mark of the qtrs- wemby enters the game...

and finishes the game.
