Bassey can't catch a break. We got him along with Champ and he's not been able to stick.
 
Bassey has no knees left, he's lucky he even got signed this summer.
I think he should give Europe a shot. If not, get the bag in Asia.

Grizzlies looking like a lottery team with all those injuries.
All three of their point guards are out for the opening night.

Memphis was falling apart at the end of the year and canned a pretty good coach. Then they lost Bane. Morant's best days may be behind him. I think they're sinking.
 

Kevin Durant Agrees To 2 Year/$90 Million Contract Extension With Player Option in 2027-2028​


So the idea was that he would be a bad fit because he would only sign a max extension. Now that we know that’s not true, would it have been better if we traded for him? (Provided Harp and Castle weren’t included)

It would've been a good deal for a combination of Devin/Keldon/Barnes/Jeremy, but it was never happening.
Green and Brooks had more value than any of our available players and #10 was obviously better than #14.

I guess it would've taken something like Devin/Barnes/Jeremy, #14 and two more FRPs.
Then it's about if you think that offer is worth it.

I think probably an extra FRP could have done it, and in a world where Spurs hadn't traded for Fox but still landed Harper, then KD would have made sense as a cheap option to improve your competitive level while not being overly expensive. As it is, I think Spurs are better off using those assets for a player who can be a long term contributor, the goal should be maximizing their championship chances in the next 5-10 years rather than the next 2.

I think it would've been worth it if Wemby didn't have DVT and we finished last season in the play-in.
Like this there were too many uncertainties to trade away multiple assets for a 37 year old.
Although considering the way we played during preseason, I can't help to think that we'd be deadly with KD.

Dang, this is pretty much the EXACT contract that myself and others had pointed to as the one that would make sense for the Spurs and if he would do it, he’d be worth trading for.
 
It’s a pretty decent deal if we can get him for Devin, sochan, 14 (Carter) and maybe one more pick, them sign him for 2/$90, but I don’t think PHX will take that deal over the one th ey got from HOU. I felt the suns have always wanted to have a scorer and shot creator in their lineup next to booker, and Jalen green is better at that than Devin.

Also, I’ve never been a huge fan of what Durant brings to the spurs. I want wemby to be that big shot creator, and having Durant would lead to a lineup of fox, wemby and Durant, all three requiring the ball to be their most effective. It’s a problem we are thinking of with Harper and castle now, so imagine adding Durant to that recipe.

I’m not overly upset about it and felt the spurs are better off getting high level role players like the kornhubs of the world. Not in terms of skill set but in terms of the role and ability to work in a team environment without demanding the ball or shots.

The Spurs have enough shot creation now so it’s the other little role player things that should be improved upon. Also, we can create good shots but whether they go in is another matter.

Keldon might secure that perfect role player title soon, too.

If Champagnie and KJ are for real, the Spurs have done a heck of a job finding complementary role player level talent around their core. It’s a huge plus that they get along too.
 
Seems like Durant is a malcontent everywhere he goes. He’s constantly unhappy and bitchy.

I wanted no part of him back then and no part of him now regardless of that extension. Which I also don’t want.

Durant thrived in golden state. Nets were dominant when Durant kyrie and harden were all playing together. Durant was great on OKC alongside ball dominant guys.

He can thrive in any scenario tbh

twice the player Jeremy is ATM. Offer him 4 years 40 at most, last year team option. Descending. That's the limit for me, otherwise go to RFA.

Should’ve clarified, Durant will get his, I’m not sure if he will create extra or getting his by taking from others.

when Keldon Johnson signed his extension, he was earning 14.7% of the cap

when Shaedon Sharpe signed his extension, he will be earning about 12.1% of the cap

Fair point, although we all would agree green and Vassell are both terrible contracts. Keldon is a slightly overpaid one. Sharpe we will see, you are probably right it could be a steal when you put it this way.
