NBA 2025-26 NBA Thread

^ Conspiracy theory or whatever you want to call it.

Would surprise me zero if huge fat under the radar check was cut by Lakers fpr the AD for Luka laugher.

Except, that not how it works. The other forum actually has NBA in the name.

This year's rookie class is off to an incredibly strong start. Hard to say who will win ROY but I still think Flagg will as the Mavs are bad and he can just get a dominant role on that team. He is picking up his play lately too and while he likely will never be a point guard, he is doing better so far.

Edgecombe is doing great but he is playing some heavy minutes, not sure if he can hold up this production as he starts hitting the rookie wall. Knueppel is doing great too but is playing heavy minutes like Edbecombe (and Flagg) as well.

Harper is really producing in relatively low minutes (9th amongst rookie) ranking 4th in ppg, 7th in rpg, and 2nd in APG. Also #6 in WS (3rd in WS/48 for any rookie over 100 MP), 5th in BPM and VORP (again over 100MP), but he's not going to win it. Backcourt is too crowded and his role isn't that attention grabbing.

Coward is doing incredible right now, but so is Will Richard in MEM is doing well in advanced stats area.

This year, just making all-rookie 1st team will be a real accomplishment.

I still think Harper will end up being the best of the bunch long term though, because I am totally biased.
Flagg is a superstar role player right now. He doesn’t excel at one thing enough to leap off the court and he’s very likely someone who elevates ceiling, but not elevate floor at this level unless his shooting from that position or defense become superior for position.

Basically I’m saying he doesn’t generate elite stats for any sort of competitive team situation and isn’t so much of a plus/minus superstar that he elevates any teammates or all around play yet. IMO, he’s going to top out at a very good #2 or a great #3. His college advantage of physical upside of height and skill no longer exists and I’d argue he’s in a light deficit of both for the next year or two, especially as Kidd tries to square peg him into a PG position.

Who can do that? @scott?
I actually don't know how to do this :st-lol:

I'll look tho.

I see the value of an "Around the League" thread here versus having it in "Other Sports" (and we had a fairly lengthy discussion of this behind the scenes), but I also see the value of having it in Other Sports.

Mavs need to get a top pick this year and dump their vets for picks or assets, which likely won't happen, or Flagg's career is going to be devastated from the start.

Thanks, brotha.

@Ex - let us know if you need scott's response in a specific font/format for formal review tbh

Any tree-related foundations with LA ties suddenly appearing in the DFW or Las Vegas areas?

I both see, and don’t see what you’re saying.

Right at the timestamp where I linked it, KOC and his guest talked about who's one player that would be a great fit for the Spurs and they said TMIII. :st-lol:

I don't know if you're creating duplicate threads in Spurs Talk and in General NBA to prove some kind of point... but please stop.

My comment was that I see both sides of the argument of having a general NBA thread in the Spurs Forum and in the General NBA forum.

I don't see the value of a bunch of duplicate threads that people are unlikely to respond to. Whatever point you're trying to make, you're really just cluttering the forum(s)... so please stop.

Eh siding with @Exstatic on this one. It’s only two clicks to get to where you need, boomers
:st-lol:

How about a community vote on what’s preferred and settle it that way?

Around the NBA works better here than in another forum with other sports. News about other NBA teams are much more proximal in relevance than are threads about college football.

No one who uses the handle ‘mugen’ is a boomer. Probably a geriatric millennial or a Y.

Moving and merging with the other thread in the NBA/Other Sports forum

A spurs forum. An other nba forum. An everything else forum. Thats the bread and butter.

Where's my Rob Dillingham Special Needs Squad? The ones that swore Brian Perfect was a dumb fuck for trading away the future of the franchise to the Wolves? Speak up now, don't be shy.

Edgecomb will win it. Not much doubt. Good team. Lots of playing time. Important role. Will rack up all the counting stats. Formality if he stays healthy. Memphis will be too dysfunctional and he’ll pay the price.
Honestly too early to say in my opinion after only 10 or so games... If McCain and PG are both completely healthy the last 2/3rds of the season, that probably means fewer minutes for Edgecomb. If Morant gets traded, Coward's minutes potentially go way up. Edgecomb right now averages 11 more mpg than Coward and is only outscoring him by 1.5 ppg because Coward's so much more efficient.
