NBA 2025-26 NBA Thread

I didn't think the Mavs would be complete trash like this. Players must be looking for exits. Horrible owners straight out the gate, a psycho GM. Klay went there to play with Doncic and they booted Doncic for nothing. Managed to just get D'Lo as their guard. Impressively awful.

Mavs should clean house by trading AD/Kyrie and all the washed vets; tank this season while they have their pick and build around Flagg..
Spurs should low-key try to swing a trade for AD offering their pick swap back and the ATL 27 pick imo.

It's not a terrible idea but I just think gambling on ADs health is worse than gambling on those picks

AD in a diminished role prolly (hopefully) preserves his health tbh. At the end of the day if he's healthy for the postseason that's all that matters.

I called the Mavs being the #1 dumpster fire of the season on BlueSky.

They are a badly constructed team built almost entirely around age, redundant role players, and injuries.

Also Kidd isn’t a good coach. He was propped up by Luka.

If you can buy low, it makes sense. Not sure how the salary match works, but Carter, Barnes, Vassell, Olynyk and a Swap for Davis/Marshall, that maybe makes enough sense to keep contending while not giving up too much.

IMO, I think Castle has some SF potential that should be explored long-term. Hate to see Carter go there, but I’d personally rather keep draft picks than Carter in your situation.

Hopefully Nico trades their pick this year in a panic move imo.

Wouldn't trade Barnes in a hypothetical AD trade tbh. Would need to look at the salary situation to figure out contracts.

Jalen Duren is quietly having an incredible year. The Pistons are 6-2 and most of the commentary I've seen centers around Cade, but Duren leads the team in impact stats by a pretty significant margin. Hard to believe he's still only 22.
Duren is actually very good if pistons plays the big man game

CP was exactly what we wanted CP to be for us. Not sure what you mean.
CP was like point Sochan in certain ways. People just generically stating that it was helpful, even though there’s no evidence of any direct benefit. He screwed up us having a functional 2-way gameplan because defense was elective. And he was, in retrospect, not impressive at all playing with Vic. And as far as mentorship goes…these guys still play young and struggle with the things he was supposed to help with.

Davis makes like $55 million so it probably needs Barns to get there. I know I was looking at the Spurs contracts when Durant was briefly linked. Vassell only makes like $30m. Might be able with Olynyk and Carter and filler but not get back Naji, but then it feels like y’all thin at SF. Might make sense but trimming salary with Barnes expiring (I think) was also part of the lure for Mavs over an extra 1st.

Edit: I should just look up the numbers.

Yeah, Davis makes $54 million

Assuming Castle, Harper are safe. Assuming you’re not interested in trading Fox. The quickest road to $54m is:

Vassell at $27m
Barnes at $19m
Olynyk at $11m

Total out: $57m

That includes $30 million in expiring contracts for Dallas. Barnes and Olynyk immediately give them some quicker flexibility.

Vassell is nice, but even with a 1st it’s not really enough. Which is why I included Carter, with a mid-level Veteran in Naji Marshall coming back.

That makes the package Davis and Marshall at $63m

That makes the outgoing Vassell, Barnes, Olynyk and Carter $62m

Add a single 1st and the combination of Salary CAP savings, young talent, 1st seems maybe doable. I doubt it. That’s a huge move for Spurs. But Davis with Wemby is crazy elite and you’d keep your Fox, Harper, Castle trio and add Marshall to Sochan & Johnson for a top-8 rotation, with Champagnie and Kornet as 9/10 in the rotation. And have some 1sts to draft KJ and Sochan’s replacements long-term.

That would make Nico effectively trading Luka for Vassel plus a couple of expiring contracts and firsts and filers. 🤣🤡

Yep. Let’s not pretend we didn’t see that just happen with a wrong side of Prime aging superstar when the team was bent of a pickle barrel with Durant being acquired for Mikal, Cam, 7 Draft Picks of various types and then Durant being traded for Green, Brooks, Suns own lottery pick back.

Davis is not a player you can build around as a Superstar any longer because he cannot hold up to that grind or load. Nico set the bar low by Trading Luka for him and filler and a single 1st anyways. 50% Cap Relief, locked in athletic youth, and a 1st is actually the historic standard for this type of trade.

Sharpe holds value in some areas beyond efficiency, but yeah, I have him and Danny White and Trey Murphy on my Fantasy Squad and they have all shot beyond awful.

I just might watch the Wizards-Mavs shit-off until our game starts, tbh.

If anyone wants a laugh go and watch the final 30 seconds of Mavs Wizards.

Wizards down 3 and Mavs have possession with 30 seconds to go. Mavs miss a shot and get the offensive rebound with 24 seconds to go, the shot clock resets to 14 seconds. So there’s a 10 second differential.

Wizards coach screams at his players to foul even tho they can defend and hope for a miss and get a rebound and have time to tie the game with a 3. Wizards foul and send the Mavs to the line. Wizards players on the bench looking at the coach like wtf are you doing fouling. Mavs make 1 of 2 and make it a 4 point game and it’s game over.

Not sure if it is a blatant tank job or just a stupid coach. Probably the latter.

Did I miss part of this discussion? This list must have some other criteria attached to it like mpg or ppg because there are definitely guys with lower TS%s than 48.5%.

What a piece of shit to cause the mess in addition to make the scene, then just fucking sit there like a hapless cuck and watch others clean up your bullshit.
seriously, at least grab a towel and help
