Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Wemby is one 'scoring tear' away from actually being in Top 2 MVP conversation.. Spurs record & seed put him there by default; he just need to up that PPG. I wonder if he might start to sniff the possibility of being the youngest MVP winner ever?

It would have to be this season, maybe if Spurs get the #1 overall record and SGA / Jokic are hurt, otherwise it's an uphill battle

Any paycut offers must come after the first Max contract, imo. Give him the first $250M that changes his life forever, then when he's not only set for life but also much older and with a better grasp of how to win in the NBA, you can pitch him that "discount" idea.

There is not a member on this forum that would take anything less than the Max if they were in Vic's position, tbh. It's deranged. Wemby knows his worth, back up the Brinks truck
I would definitely take 200 millions over 250 millions to have better players around me, even 150. People just don't realize how much money that is and that is before any sponsoring contracts. I'd rather have my name remembered because I won more titles than die with 200 millions in my bank account. You can live off the interests EASILY (meaning having a luxurious life) for the rest of your life

Not that I don't believe you think you would, but - easy talk when it's not your 50 million, 100 million to lose, tbh. There's dozens of players in the league who are stars and get endorsements, and aren't LeBron-level stingy; if it was easy as you say, we'd see it happen significantly more.

Turns out most people will choose the money over the chance at better teammates (remember, you're signing off on getting 50M less, but no guarantees that it'll directly produce better players around you). Also, the frankly shocking statistics of what % of NBA players end up poor after retirement (see the Big Baby Davis fraud case for starters) goes against your last notion.

It's the same way everyone jerks off to "oh, if I were a billionaire, I'd give so much of it away...!!", yet none of the actual B's are doing it... Wonder why.

Good thing he cares about winning titles with the Spurs, then.

I'd love to see how the polling results would be affected by the Spurs overtaking OKC for the #1 seed.

Not that I think Wemby would win it, the Spurs are too egalitarian - but man, I'm tired of SGA and Jokic for it. Rooting for Cade instead.

I think most voters don't want to vote for SGA. I think if Cade keeps it up and ends up with the best record in the league I think they give it to him just to finally have an American MVP.

Plenty of billionaires give money away and plenty of athletes have left money on the table in favour of having a better team around them. I don't care to talk about the billionaires, but you know what most of those athletes have in common? They have won, a lot.

You just need to be smart enough to put things in perspective and understand what things are worth prioritizing.
