Player The unfortunately low-ceilinged Shaolin monastery of Victor Wembanyama

Spurs may have even won the game if Victor didn't have to go to the bench in the 4th quarter for that 3-4 minutes rest. If he could have played the whole quarter Spurs may have won. He didn't have a great game offensively either and still put a good numbers. I liked a lot of what he did out there on offense, but like Scott said, his defense wasn't really good. The 5 blocks don't tell the story there.

One thing that bothers me is his comments on Jokic not being an MVP/best player discussion. Jokic's offense is so far ahead of other centers/players it's ridiculous. I understand the statement was probably him saying that he values defense when looking at the equation of who are the best player/s in the NBA, but Victor's defense is as far ahead as Jokic's offense is, so if Jokic isn't the MVP with his offense because his defense is far behind, then Victor shouldn't be saying he's the best player when his offensive is way behind his defense.
he literally said that Jokic is the best offensive player of the NBA. i'm one of the guys here that didn't like some of his comments lately even if i don't think that's a big deal at all. but he never underestimated Jokic's offense, on the contrary.

and i thought all things considered that he had a good game. he wasn't the problem. this was one those games where Pop said you just have to look at the 3 pts stats sheet and it says the whole story. Also, it's a problem that Castle and Harper aren't able to be consistent on wide open threes. but hey, we're talking about a sophomore and a rookie, and they seem to have the tools to add it, which would make them very good players (well, Castle already is).

If there is a 1 on 1 tournament, I don't think anyone can beat Wemby (as long as he imagine his opponent as Chet).

But in a 5 on 5 game, Wemby is definitely not the best player as he is still too inconsistent and still make bone headed play thinking he is Jamal Crawford dribbling against 2 or more players.
Jokic is unreal on offense and poor on defense
Victor is incredible on defense and above average on offense.

He can't go around saying Jokic isn't the best player because he's not good on defense. Victor is above average on offense, so overall, he might be a touch better if you value defense more than offense, but I think what Jokic brings on the offensive side of the ball can cancel a lot of his deficiency on the defensive side of the ball. I do value defense most and still believe in defense wins championships, but you got to score to win games and that is one thing Jokic does (set up his teammates at a high level and also score himself) better than almost anyone. Great offense can beat great defense at least 50% (maybe more) of the time in this current NBA ruleset.

Yeah, but he discounted his offense being that good that it can make up for his lack of defense. I don't know, that comment felt a bit disrespectful. Hopefully it doesn't fuel Jokic in games against the Spurs. All good. I'm probably taking too much from it.

Good point about Steph and Dylan not being consistent shooters yet that can hurt the Spurs when they get open looks and can't always capitalize. That can make for some difficult games.
