Player The Lifelong Residency of the Ever-Important Heart and Soul of the Spurs, Keldon Johnson

Loved hearing from him that it wasn't all puppy dogs and ice cream when initially been asked to reduce his role too. Its good to be reminded that these guys are human beings. To me, it makes his ultimate embrace of this role all the more special. Keldon isn't a robot running an algorithm... he's a dude who's spent his entire life pushing himself to compete at the highest level... and being asked to take a backseat is a huge blow to ones ego... and one that not everyone can take. But he eventually did and made the most of it. Love it.

It's just one game but I hope Keldon is not the playoffs dropper i feared he would be. The point is you can't just out-energy play guys in the playoffs..

I don’t expect Harper to continue having mediocre games like tonight. Neither do I expect Vassell to play like Jordan again. It’s one game.

Yeah not everyone will have a stellar game all at once. Tonight, the role players were Dev and Korn. Next game it could be Keldon that goes off or Champ hitting 6 - 8 3's. Still so much time for Keldon to bounce back.

I believe he will be fine. He was probably the most amped of all the players to finally be in the playoffs, dude just needs to get in control. He had a nice buzzer beater to end the 1st quarter though

The issue is that Keldon's game isn't predicated on shooting like Champ/Devin/Barnes is, he's supposed to be the reliable wing when it comes to scoring.
I guess Blazers are a difficult matchup for him, but some of the decisions he made with the ball were just tragic.

Keldon will shine in one of those nondescript playoff games where nothing is going the Spurs’ way. And maybe he gets a few key offensive rebounds, scraps for a few loose balls or gets to the line to spark the team. At least that’s what I hope.

Keldon wasn't bad at all. He didn't score much but he only took 4 shots. He led the team in rebounds along with Castle against a good rebounding team who the Spurs outrebounded by 7. His defense was mostly solid. He recognized Wemby and Fox going offensively and didn't try to force himself into the game.

I thought he looked a bit shakey tbh. That spot where he traveled against Sharpe right next to the basket showed he was rushing a bit. I think he’ll be fine in the long run though.

I like him guarding Deni at times this series.

He didn’t have it last night, but he didn’t try to force it either which was encouraging. KJ of two years ago would’ve had a 2-13 night instead of realizing he just wasn’t the guy that night.

This could be a tough series for KJ, Clingan and Timelord are very stout and disruptive in the areas where KJ wants to get.

Keldon sometimes struggles against bigger teams if his 3-ball isn't falling cause he can't play bully-ball inside like he wants to. Clingan and Timelord give him problems. Two of his lowest scoring games this season were against Portland.

He had one or two bad turnovers, but other than that he still brought energy and rebounding. Not his best game - far from his worst. There will be a huge Keldon game in this playoff run, I can see it coming.
