Game Thread Spurs @ Heat (Wed 10/8/25) [6:30PM CDT]

Korndog eating on the glass

Good to see that last lineup grab the W after losing the lead. They held it together after Biyambo pointed out the lack of communication.

Nice close out to secure the W. I know it is only preseason, but I like positive habits.

Some good clutch work down the stretch from CB. It's just preseason, but those were minutes of solid import for a rookie. Carter Bryant shows some promise, mentally. Gonna be interesting to watch how he develops. The way he brings the ball up already says "not a roleplayer", longterm. Gonna be very, very interesting. He is already not my least favorite Spurs player.
I was not expecting him to be so physically mature and will always be worried about 19y/os mentally, but he absolutely passes the eye test and he doesn't turn 20 until late November.
Love that he is always looking to move the ball, his head is always on a swivel, and he is constantly talking/communicating with his teammates. Stays engaged and active.
Dude looks ready to be a PRO at 19, I'm impressed.

Never understood the hate for Champagnie, tbh. He’s going to be in the league for 10+ years.

Is it just me or does Keldon and Vassell look like they’re playing… like vets?

CB has a long way to go to earn my trust. Playing sloppy as hell (that’s a given), but when I say those shots look ugly… they look ug-lay.

Yay 2-0 in preaseason. Means nothing but good for the morale

Guess maybe my eye test is different from yours. He's energetic, and that's about it to me. He doesn't dribble well, and he goes right into traffic. His shooting, even on the baskets he made late, (credit for making the important ones) his form looks really bad. And let's be real; he can't defend at all. He uses his hands and gets out of position with his feet and then reaches in even more.

To his credit, he works harder than Danny Green at this early stage of his career, and when everyone has talent, the hard workers can improve. He could be an essential part of a playoff team in a few years, or he could be playing in China. It will be interesting to watch.

There's a handful of very businesslike 19-20 year-olds on this team. It's kinda damned weird. Like...which one is going to fall off and get addicted to thots and partying? Surely they can't all stay so apparently locked in?

But if they do...Castle, Carter, potentially Harper all being hardnosed grinders is gonna be crazy to watch as they hold themselves and each other accountable. Bunch of grown-ass Rugrats, it looks like. If the skills come to catch up with the mentalities, this team will be nothin' nice.

CB in particular just looks like the difference between his floor and ceiling is a football field. He'll be at least as good as SloMo, but with an athletic body. At least.

Not wanting to complain after a W - but it strikes me as odd that the wemby/korn combo that worked really well in game 1…
Was never - never even used in game 2?

Hope this is not a precursor of mitch johnson decisions to come….

I’m stanning DJG this season. Love me my underdogs. That one foot turnaround jumper looks like his go-to move. Hard to imagine his future as a Spur with so many primary ball handlers in the pipeline already but I hope he can carve out a role.

We wanted to see what the youngsters could do and all they did at the end of the game was pass it to Hands Of Stone Biyombo over and over again. It was infuriating.

Bam, Powell, Wiggins trio is a good test. Ware and Jaimie Jacquez Jr are pretty solid.
They left ware and Jacquez in until the bitter end, and we were playing 3 two ways, a rookie, and a fossil, and beat them. We never had aPG tonight higher than 4th on our depth chart, and we closed them out.

This year is going to be fun.

It's odd seeing the team that didn't think there was any value in a lottery pick trying to shoehorn Ingram into the rotation while he continues to not improve.
Are you mental? Ingram is NOT going to be in the rotation. He’ll be lucky to sniff garbage time in a dozen or so games.

yeah that whole 4Q was SL and D League caliber and they managed the closing well

I wouldn't expect to see a ton of that. It'll probably be matchup dependent, and will possibly be used to close games if the other team plays 2 bigs.

The really need Kornet to anchor the middle with the 2nd unit so the bench doesn't get outrebounded and pushed around inside like last season.

I'd look to see more Olynik and Wemby looks once Olynik returns.

Nice W.
I checked ST, damn, this place is so dead. In Poland we have a saying "the last one out turns the lights off" and it looks like it's time for new ownership to finally kill the hamsters.
