Game Thread Spurs (8-3) vs Warriors (7-6) (Fri 11/14/25) [8:30PM CDT]

Had a double digit lead on them in both games.

Just a young team that's never played meaningful basketball together that has to learn how to win in the league, coaching staff included.

Just part of the development curve tbh, would advise against slitting your wrists just yet. We're still in the early chapters.

I do want to see Mitch start getting in these Refs ear and lobbying for our guys. The whistles are absurd. I don’t want to see us become GSW/Luka level of whiners… but these guys and guys like SGA/Giannis just don’t get whistles, they lobby for them and “earn” them. Our team does none of that, we just play and hope the refs notice the obvious fouls the other team is committing.

After the bench went ape shit after they missed an obvious foul call, the refs finally responded with the whistles for a little while. These chumps in stripes are easily manipulated and we lose that battle every game.
Mitch needs to take a page out of Pop, Phil Jackson, and Steve Kerr's playbook and get an occasional tech for getting on the ref's ass for missed calls. Back to back games where Draymond just looked to Kerr after perceived bad calls, and Kerr immediately tore into the refs. Mitch needs to do that for his guys.

Vassell has value to this team as a drought stopper but he erases it all with his tunnel vision offense and boneheaded fouling on defense. I wanna like him but he made it really hard to tonight

Let him do it twice a game so Sweeney can coach the team the rest of the night.

Spurs are lacking a true enforcer on this team right now that would have given a hard foul or 2 to green and Curry especially when they were cutting up with antics

Agreed Spurs are going to have to take their lumps in these types of game against experienced teams. It's all part of the journey when it comes to a young team's development.

:st-lol:

But in all seriousness, there were times when Pop and Phil Jackson would get thrown out early because their teams were playing lackluster. Couldn't hurt.

One exception isn't the rule, normally.

But we don't know shit about this organization, too opaque and no tradition of accountability.

We need better players to bail Mitch out bc he's going nowhere.
Let’s not lose faith in our coach. He’s young, they believe in him, let’s give him a little bit of rope here.

I liked it when Sochan ran up to Draymond and shoved him during the Victor-Draymond confrontation moment. Draymond looked frustrated when that happened.

You're the most insufferable naysayer to grace these forums. How many years have you kept this negative energy going? How absolutely exhausting.
Chill, its just venting after a loss. They'll win the next three and people will forget about these two losses.

that could be, like, the one thing Sochan could do right. If only...

Our last three shots were all fade away midrange jumpers. That has to go to the film room. Also wtf is with GP being a three point shooter?

Horrible flashback to Game 2 of the 2001 WCF when KFC gets thrown out and walks the long way around the court eye-fucking Shaq the whole time and then the Lakers just tear the fuck out of the Spurs immediately after.

I was thinking after the game Wednesday, has Mitch ever gotten a technical? He seems so passive on the sidelines.

Not drawing plays for Wemby when Green was in Foul Trouble and left the game?.

Lol

This was the same dumb shit that Pop did. Opponent with five fouls and on tilt with the refs? Hey, let's let him hang around for the last 5-6 minutes of the game while the rest of the team jerks each other off. It's fucking dumb.

On the bright side,

It basically took back to back 50 point games from Curry to eke out these two games.

Wemby’s defense has been even better than ever. He single-handedly is shutting down a quarter of the court on his own.

The Spurs improved upon the areas they were poor in last game.

San Antonio is like one shooter away from being great.
My friend I like your optimism, but we're a lot more than one shooter away to being great.

It all starts with the head coach, a team always end up at the image of their coach and this one is a rookie learning his job via countless mistakes who has no leadership skills.

This is just not serious for a professional club.

Fox has plenty of experience. He knows better than to settle for contested 2s. On the final play he couldn’t beat his man on a downhill run at the basket. He almost got bailed out on a lucky bounce.
I'm annoyed with Fox but that wasn't his fault. Throwing into the backcourt and expecting him to bring it up with six to play was the failure. Yes, looking at you Mitch the Bitch.

He got a random one against the Suns this season. And I believe he had a similar one last season.

Y'all can blame the coaching all you want, but idk what you want Mitch to do when Vassell turns the ball over and then immediately commits two fouls in the clutch.
The onus is on the players. I thought the rotations tonight were fine (a bit too much double big)
Maybe don't throw it to opponents FT line with six to go?

Maybe double the guy with 50 who put 47 on your ass two nights ago and make someone else beat you?

Maybe throw it your 7.5 foot guy in the post with his defender having five fouls at some point in the last four minutes of the game instead of letting your guards chuck up threes and off balance midrange shots?

Nah, couldn't be that easy.
