Game Thread Spurs (8-3) vs Warriors (7-6) (Fri 11/14/25) [8:30PM CDT]

This loss really sucked since the Warriors is the team I hate the most in the league even more than the Lakers. Both Steph and Draymond are insufferable but with that being said I don't think the Spurs as bad as these two losses make them out to be. The Warriors have had the number of inexperienced young teams the last few years in the playoffs such as the Grizzlies, Kings, Rockets. I have seen this story play out in the playoffs where the Warriors will need Steph to have games where he goes for super nova explosions to win against these teams and they will grind out towards the end and get a few key defensive stops.

I think the Spurs are still going to win a lot of regular season games. I just hope if they get a high seed they don't face the Warriors in round 1 because they will probably have the same faith as the Rockets did last year. It's frustrating in the sense that I don't feel the Warriors are a title contender and if they ran into the Thunder or Nuggets that they would get curb stomped in the playoffs but they can play spoiler towards young inexperience teams. That's pretty much the only thing they are good at doing now.

We would bend the warriors in the playoffs, take away those touch fouls and it's not even close. Butler was literally driving into the lane throwing shit up and flopping in the first three quarters and was getting calls.

Y'all can blame the coaching all you want, but idk what you want Mitch to do when Vassell turns the ball over and then immediately commits two fouls in the clutch.
The onus is on the players. I thought the rotations tonight were fine (a bit too much double big)
Yeah, the charge stunk but it happens. Fouling Green’s dumbass in the corner was just so brain dead.

I want him to hold them accountable so we don't commit 14 turnovers in the first half.
Young teams win games by blowing out veteran teams that need time to get going early on.
Instead our team just keeps fucking around and playing like it's preseason.
Rockets game was the only one with good intensity throughout.
Everything else was full of fucking around and low effort periods.
Bulls game was also horrible, but saved by Wemby.

Not a chance, this team is not playing winning basketball. Winning basketball would be having Victor play the whole game on the low block or in the high post where he can draw fouls, get the team into the early bonus, and make the opposing team have to lean into its bench more.

Idk what games you're watching but Wemby doesn't get a whistle.

I want the coach to not turn our HOF bigman into a mediocre small forward for more than half the game.

A mediocre small forward? Wemby can literally shoot over every defender in the game. Him becoming a legit wing offensively would be unstoppable.

this team is young and scrappy

but the amount of boneheaded plays this team makes

Wemby is still 1-2 years away to play both D and O in paint for full game.

At this point, they are just preserving his body in 1st half.

Fox is historically a clutch player. We need for him to keep working out the kinks and becoming a key part of this team. It will pay off
I like Fox a lot.

But to say he is historically a clutch player when he's been in the league 8 years and has never been on a team that even won a playoff series seems a bit of a stretch.

Clippers are another veteran team that has abused this Spurs team as of late, the Suns already humiliated this team this season, and the Blazers are a much better coached team with a more modern NBA roster. Hell, Grizz might get it together and keep the Spurs out of postseason contention altogether. 11th seed here we come tbh.

/wrist slitting
Think Warriors are secretly rooting to meet this team in playoffs (probably 4-5 seed scenario) (might even be a play-in)..They know we are dumb and poorly coached..We actually brought them from dead after an awwful stretch lately ..This mini-series was first red flag raised about this team and its head coach

He was literally awarded Clutch Player of the Year in ‘23 leading the league in clutch time scoring.

The problem is the Warriors will get all the bs touch fouls during the playoffs. They always do and you have to factor in Draymond will be allowed to hack and mug Victor and get away with it much like he did to Sabonis and Sengun in the playoffs.

It takes a level of high IQ basketball to overcome that bs which is something the Spurs don't have yet. It's also the reason why the Warriors can't defeat the experience teams like Thunder and Nuggets because they know how to easily overcome these types of tactics that the Warriors employ. I would say even the Lakers have a better chance at beating the Warriors in the playoffs due to Luka and Lebron's high IQ and experience.

I do want to see Mitch start getting in these Refs ear and lobbying for our guys. The whistles are absurd. I don’t want to see us become GSW/Luka level of whiners… but these guys and guys like SGA/Giannis just don’t get whistles, they lobby for them and “earn” them. Our team does none of that, we just play and hope the refs notice the obvious fouls the other team is committing.

After the bench went ape shit after they missed an obvious foul call, the refs finally responded with the whistles for a little while. These chumps in stripes are easily manipulated and we lose that battle every game.

He had Castle open for the lob, but had tunnel vision and barreled his way into the paint. If he didn't want to throw the lob, the best thing for him to do was to slow it down and let the rest of the guys catch up and run some offense.

hate losing back to back to this warrior team at home after being undefeated 5-0 and the second game being a cup game

also giving up back to back 40+ Curry games, fuck, this loss sucks

Those things aren't really correlated tbh.

A team rooting to see us in the playoffs? The team that won by ONE point with curry going nuclear for 50? I doubt it.

Well, he is going to be here so we better. Goddamn, hope he finds it. This is not an organization that changes coaches quickly as we know. He’s gonna be this coach for years to come.
One exception isn't the rule, normally.

But we don't know shit about this organization, too opaque and no tradition of accountability.

We need better players to bail Mitch out bc he's going nowhere.

Idk what games you're watching but Wemby doesn't get a whistle.
You didn't watch those first five when he played like a bigman and shot 9.6 FT per game? Now that he's back to the old habits of hanging at the three point line just standing there he's averaging 5.1FTA in the 7 games since.

A mediocre small forward? Wemby can literally shoot over every defender in the game. Him becoming a legit wing offensively would be unstoppable.
Yes he's a mediocre small forward when he stands in place on the three point line where he's a below average shooter with below average handles and other teams can get away with guarding him with scrubs like Buddy Hield.

This loss really hurt because

1. It’s the warriors and most of us can’t stand them.
2. It went pretty similarly overall to Wednesday
3. It’s the second in a row.
4. Reffing continues to be trash against our guys.

I’ve still got a lot of confidence in these guys overall. Something about these stupid warriors just doesn’t sit right against this year’s Spurs

Mitch seems like a “That’s not who we are” kind of coach. Even though that’s very much who Pop was, lol.
