Game Thread Spurs (61-19) vs Mavericks (25-55) (Fri 04/10/2026) [7:00 CDT]

Why? This season is finally a redemption season after the “dark ages” of mediocrity. Finally Spurs are back! We’re 2-3 years ahead, so I just enjoy whatever outcome. I wish they win it all, that would be great! Maybe the youngest team to ever do it. But this team is far from a finished product. Wemby will get even more stronger, Harper is a rookie and just skimming the surface, Castle will be All-NBA with the way he approaches games, mamba mentality comes to mind, the team needs a PF/C alongside Wemby who can shoot, etc. It’s exciting to think what that finished product would look, and having that team for a very long time. Nah, I’m enjoying this! 🍻
Oh, don't get me wrong...I'm ecstatic for the way this season has gone down and am greatly looking forward to watching some playoff basketball again. The Spurs are way ahead of schedule so could be playing with house money in that way, but we can also better appreciate that these opportunities aren't guaranteed. It's been a long damn time.

I'm doing my best to be optimistic while also tempering expectations.

That doesn't mean that I won't be clutching my lucky hat and yelling at the TV for every game.

Let's just enjoy one last stress free game before the nerve wrecking shit starts. :st-lol:
Sunday won't be both enjoyable and stress free because we'll either play the G-leaguers or effectively have another playoff game in order to knock the Nuggets down to 4th seed.
I can see OKC not trying their best tonight against Denver. If they win tonight that helps the Spurs in trying to knock Denver down to the 4th spot.

They're sitting 10 guys so I don't think they're putting their best foot forward. If you make it to the game on time, you can probably get 5-10 mins for them if you wanted :st-lol:

Speaking of which, do fans get some type of refund for tonight?

I like basketball as much as anybody but I'm not sure how i'd feel about spending hard earned money on watching Nikola Topic vs Tyus Jones in person tbh :st-lol:

Yeah, there is still a slight possibility
If the Lakers take care of business we could be in a position to knock Denver down to 4. But I’m not betting on it.

Oh shit, didn't see that lol. Let me see I think I got my old bball sneakers somewhere around here.

Dodgers have a promo where a home win gets you a $7 plate at Panda Express the following day. The few times I took advantage last season, I honestly felt bad for the people working there with how crazy busy it was.

Basically customers and workers just looking at each other like this tbh :st-lol:

well that is getting to the bottom of that 65 games rule

Relevant to the Mavs...

Saw a stat this morning that Luka scored more points for the Lakers in March than Anthony Davis scored in his entire tenure in Dallas :st-lol:
Though this is a stress free game, I'd like to see us win to keep these guys in rhythm. If the Lakers win tonight it puts a different thought about Sunday. Meaning we might need to lay it on the Nuggets. Their game tonight is a joke.

I'm so glad this team didn't end up taking Topic because he could get to the rim against plumbers and jizzmoppers overseas. Now we have Castle and Harper who get to the rim against NBA shot blockers while also doing everything Topic never did. The local media was so sprung on Topic until his injury.

lol "Keldon Johnson doesn't see his farm as a business venture, just wants the animals to have a good life roaming the pasture."

That's Mr. Alamo
