Game Thread Spurs (61-19) vs Mavericks (25-55) (Fri 04/10/2026) [7:00 CDT]

I hope they do. Basketball is more fun when the Spurs and Mavericks have a rivalry. (They'll still be the inferior team regardless anyway)
We can still have a rivalry with them without them getting another star to pair with Flagg for the next 15 years tbh :st-lol:. They're going to get another good player regardless, I just don't want it to be one of the top-4 prospects. It prob will though knowing the NBA.

Neither team is going to care about winning that game. Jokic will play his 20 to make All NBA First Team and then it'll be G-League ball.

yeah and, as we saw tonight, MVP caliber players can score forty points in that amount of time and change the whole game

For the first time in exactly 10 years, since 2016. The Lakers host the Jazz in LA. We remember the last time that happened. Kobe scored 60 points on 50 shot attempts. It's too bad they can't bring Kobe back and Lebron just isn't as good.

Is it just me or did the NBA widen the circumference of the rims in every stadium in the past several years... or bring back the NBA "new ball" from 2006... or both? It seems way more shots, especially deep shots, get the lucky roll than ever before.

In all seriousness. The Wilson balls definitely die on the rim and are magnetically attracted to the bottom of the hoop far more than the Spalding balls ever did. The Spalding balls were bouncier and tougher to handle, hence less turnovers leaguewide since 2021, especially per possession. And the hoops seem wider too.

With no Wemby and Cassell the Spurs won't beat the Thuggets with Jokic and Murray playing
Sure, but you're making a lot of assumptions there that aren't obvious.
The Spurs can beat them with one of them though. Steph went from sore knee to sore foot which tells me its BS injury report coming off his highest 5 game minutes played of his career.

Vic has a bone bruise, not some soft tissue strain/sprain that he could aggravate. Pain management, 1/2 the NFL plays 1/2 the season with bruised ribs, toradol can get rid of that pain w/o affecting his play.
Vic is 1-5 against Joker, with Joker average over 40ppg (40+ in 5 of those 6 games). I'd rather the best Defensive players get more reps against the best Offensive player pre-playoffs, then he can rest for a fucking week.
The more an elite defender sees a guy, the better his ability to handle that guy.

I really don't understand why you'll are so terrified of injuries. He could get injuried any minute he plays, that doesn't mean limit his minutes at all costs. Mitch seems to agree, Vic came back in tonight. He will get better defending Joker every minute he plays him, every single minute.
Put him out there and get him reps against the greatest offensive force since at least Wilt. Or don't bitch when Nugs clubber the Spurs 4-1 with Joker averaging 45 a game because bone bruise/fear.
Vic won't get better at defending Jokis watching from the bench, but he prolly will get better playing another 20+ min against him.
This is a prime sparring opportunity, you can't replicate what Joker does, there's no way to practice for what he does, you can only get reps against him. Don't miss those reps that up out of fear.

I agree with all this, but Mitch is like Pop in that regard, and the rest of the NBA got the load management trend from Pop anyway.

After the post game wemby said they still have 1 more game to prove they are ready for the playoffs. If lakers win tonight I could see us trying to beat Denver on Sunday with everyone
They should go for it. Playoffs are all about matchups and if you have the opportunity to beat Denver and knock them onto OKC’s side of the bracket I gotta think you go for it!
