Game Thread Spurs (59-19) vs. 76ers (43-35) (Mon 04/06/2026) [7:00 PM]

A rib contusion is basically a bruise to the rib or the surrounding muscles. It usually happens from a direct hit—like taking an elbow, falling hard, or getting hit while driving to the basket.

What it means medically

  • The bone itself is not broken (that would be a rib fracture)
  • But there’s bleeding and inflammation in the tissue around the ribs
  • It can be quite painful, especially with:
    • Deep breaths
    • Coughing
    • Twisting or sprinting
That’s why it’s tricky in basketball—breathing hard and core movement are constant.

How long NBA players miss

In the NBA, recovery varies a lot depending on pain tolerance and severity:

  • Mild contusion:
👉 0–3 games (sometimes day-to-day, may not miss time)
  • Moderate contusion:
    👉 About 1–2 weeks (roughly 3–8 games)
  • Severe contusion:
    👉 2–4+ weeks, especially if:
    • Breathing is painful
    • There’s concern about hidden fracture or cartilage damage
Worst case he comes back for the Denver series fully health, we don't need him to beat the Sons

Was just about to say, I don’t know why we’re running the entire offense through Castle vs. PG right now. Let Harper go to work.

CB will be like Castle between year 1 - 2. Castle got no respect driving to the basket then started to get calls in year 2.

CB will defend the same way in year 2 and won't be called for these "rookie" calls.

KJ really abusing the matchup today.. great to see him recognise he has the advantage and should get the ball on every possession

SSteph is playing incredibly, but I like that Mitch took him out; he's one rebound away from a triple-double. But... this isn't who we are. F*you Bam
