Game Thread Spurs (59-19) vs. 76ers (43-34) (Mon 04/06/2026) [7:00 PM]

Who cares at this point? We lost the marquee game. Only interested in the last game vs Denver to wash the sour taste from that OT loss off my mouth . Can't allow the Nuggets to build a mental edge over us. I genuinely believe the Spurs are a better team than them; it just sucks to keep seeing the same script playing out: build a double-digit lead, look to be in control, get reeled in slowly starting late 3rd Q, and then get out-executed in the last two minutes.
The thing I don't like about the loss is, it might mean that last game of the season doesn't have any stakes for either team. Neither team might be trying to win it and could be sitting players. I wanted that game to be a good final tuneup for the playoffs. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait and see, but I doubt it's going to be a meaningful game.

Unless the game is going to move you up or down in the standings no team is going to risk getting it's starting players hurt right before the playoffs. Spurs are pretty much locked into the 2nd seed. Get Wemby his 65th game and rest important players.

Probably only Denver will care for that game as they move up or down while the Spurs are locked in at the 2. I fully expect our G League team to play that game.

If we have a chance to knock Denver into the other bracket, we should play everyone except Wemby. We finish the season with 4 at home, get 5 days off, the have the first two games of round 1 at home. No reason not to play the rotation guys in game #82, minus Wemby, of course.

And risk injury? I think you forget how this franchise works.

Hope Wemby remembers the 70 piece embiid hung on us and responds with a nice 50 burger and a W

Would love to see the defense get back on track this last week of the regular season tbh.

Lots of bs narratives out there regarding the over-hyped MVP race....

but HERE is the one I want to see; SGA wins 2026 MVP due to misinformed kunts

1st round - spurs vs warriors - wemby eliminates former mvp curry
2nd round - spurs vs nuggets - wemby eliminates former mvp jokic
3rd round - spurs vs okc - wemby eliminates SGA

Finals- I dont see Embiid miraculously reaching the finals ...

so take your pick!

I am surprised we are playing tonight. Usually, the NBA take the night off the Championship game off.

Hope Castle isn't too distracted with his Huskies going for the title. I would normally root for Michigan because many friends have moved up there to beat the heat in summer and live here in cooler months.

A lot has been said about the last game missteps with Fox getting a lot of the heat, well deserved albeit. I actually think Fox has been doing a good job deferring to others throughout the games and playing like a team player. I somehow think he thinks the last two minutes is his time. Partly because of the big bucks he is paid and the ridiculous moniker of Mr. Clutch. I think he believes that is role and that's why teams double him. He needs to cover his man and pass the ball like he does a lot of the game. His quickness really comes in handy with some buckets when he goes to the rim. It's the outside shooting that hurting him and the team. We need to kill it tonight.

I always was very positive about Fox over the season, especially about doing work in the 4th when it was necessary. But the Denver game was rough not only offensively (0/6 from three) but he was targeted by Denver on defense and failed miserably. Still think he has to have the ball more in the playoffs than Castle.

From the SA Express-News today:

"NOTABLE
• Fox is the first player in Spurs history to have 1,200-plus points, 400-plus assists and 100-plus 3-pointers in a single season.

• The Spurs are just the sixth team in league history to have eight players score 700-plus points in a season."

"• Barlow, who played two seasons with the Spurs from 2022-2024, is averaging 7.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 24.0 minutes over 67 games (59 starts), all career highs."
